Guy Mckenna suggests otherwise and regards Worsfold's influence on the club, players and a game he played against Geelong when his knee was heavily strapped towards the end of his career was ahead of the 2 grand final victories Guy played for with the Eagles.
Max had his moments but was not in the Same league as the era didn't allow for it.
Like Hodge he was a general on the field and a ruthless leader of men who put the team first for the ultimate success of his side no matter what the cst in an era where the rules were different.

Like Hodge was similar to Worsfold however also played in a softened era, a general on the field and a ruthless leader of men who put the team first for the ultimate success of his side no matter what the cost.
Love the clip mate but I think it just shows what I'm saying. Woosha hit 4-5 blokes in the vid....all of whom had eyes on the ball and didn't see him coming or had no chance to protect themselves. Graham Wright (Brownlow type wingman), Archer looking for the ball...its not tough hitting a guy that's not seeing you coming. Modra....again eyes on the ball and Woosha lines him up. What I'd define as a tough player is one who knows the contacts coming and continues to run straight. Lethal, Pants and Plugger all had that in em. BTW....Woosha played in the era of Pants and Plugger....can you find any footage of him trying that stuff on them?
he possibly cost us a flag, but without him we don't get there at all.
what were we 27 up 3/4 time and draw game should have won easily, and wayne Richardson thought that too
at 3/4 time. for all his faults and there were many carman was simply the most talented Collingwood player I have seen

Yes i agree
I remember a game at that hole the saints played at ( linton st i think it was called) and Carman kicked 10 or 11 and George young kicked 9 for the saints.
These days in some games teams stuggle to get 20 goals between them.
Carman was the closest thing to ablett snr that i have seen at our club
if any one wants x factor fab phil had it in spades. at times the it seemed at the time the only forward we had
yep remember that game against the saints down by heaps at quarter time, then came phil. love what McKenna did but phil
on a complete different level, just my opinion, better than carey talent wise

I want to say Peter McKenna, but I get the feeling he lacked the athleticism to be successful in today's game.
Same thing I'd point out to those wanting to bring in Billy Picken - He was 185cm, so he'd get absolutely murdered attempting to play on today's big CHFs.
So factoring in that they'd need to physically compete in the modern game:
Peter Moore
Peter Daicos
Darren Millane
Nathan Buckley
Moore plays ruck/forward, Daicos as a high half forward, Millane plays the wing and scares anyone from trying to play Daics rough, and Bucks makes our midfield unstoppable.
