JB Hi-Fi is selling it for $89, that's the cheapest I can find.

One of my mates already has it and reckons it is a bit slow to start off with but is a fantastic game.

He did say though the AI when it came to combat was very good, but he saw them do some dumb stuff like driving into walls and off bridges .

Needless to say if I see that happen in my game I will PMSL.

Hmm strange, I went in to one of my local EB's yesterday and there wasn't anything there, not to mention EB rang me today and told me it was out tomorrow, I wish it was out now.

games rareley ever sell out anymore, they guy at game traders almost gave it to me but said Kmarts punishment for selling fable 2 early is that they will get gOW2 2 weeks later.

As for games selling out, depends where you live matt.

I'm in a regional centre where they only have limited copies. Unless its an massive blockbuster and they have a few dozen copies, pre ordering is an absolute must or you miss out.

we started selling it at 1:30 today (after i had called all my presells and then had to call em back)

Mate i can't wait to get home after work to get stuck in again. The game has done a great job of making you feel like you've been chucked into the chaotic deep end.

You get dumped in africa, and you basically don't know wtf is going on for the first hour or so as you fumble around. Slowly you learn how to do a few things, earn money, find contacts etc. I already feel like i'm driving the story rather than the game.

The AI isn't too bad. Maybe not up there with a halo or rainbow 6 vegas. But its not bad at all. Guys run to cover, do some flanking, call out to comrades telling them where they think you are etc.

Just hammerring around in a car is pretty cool.

The environments are top notch, weaponry interface maybe isn't as smooth as a COD4, but its still easy to come to grips with.

Its something different in the FPS genre, and its a good difference. Shit yeah, buy it.

Awesome, yeah the AI would be the dealbreaker for me, I want it to be a challenge when you have to take out a patrol or something, I want it to require some thought as to how you approach it. Will buy I think.

Yep, totally open world. Drive where you want, explore etc.

Exploring allows you to find diamonds which are the games currency, unlock weapon shops, find side mission contacts etc etc.

The missions are initiated much like a GTA game. Drive to a location, meet a contact, take on a contract etc. You do it at your pace, and you can even choose what time of day to do it. If it requires stealth, you can go to a safehouse, have a kip and wake up in the wee hours of the morning to do the mission.

The sleep sequence is pretty cool, it zooms out to the outside of your hut, and you see a time lapse sequence of the sun arcing across the sky, shadows lengthening etc. Its mere eye candy, but its cool.

As for the AI, honestly mate, its very early days right now, and i've only been in skirmishes with untrained rebels and nobodies. I've still been made piss a few times and had to leg it, pulling bullets out of me on the way, but its fair to say its been nothing too difficult so far.

Even so, the guys aren't just standing there waiting for you to swiss cheese them.

This is really my only criticism. Accurate Aiming can be a bit clunky, whereas in COD4 the iron sight system felt really smooth and natural.

Seems to be an Ubisoft quirk really. They make some great games, but they always have a few rough edges.

If you're looking for balls to the wall all out action, all the time, this game may frustrate a bit. You're basically all alone in a big world, so its generally not the best idea to go running about Rambo style. Requires a fair bit of quiet reconnaissance, walking around etc

Haven't read too much about it, mainly because I never played Far Cry 1.

How related to the original is it? One extreme would be it's a complete follow on sequel with the other extreme being it's completely unrelated

LOL, I traded for it too, NBA 2K8 and 2K9, and with the EB's price match only ended up paying about $15.
