I have never been so sad when a player retired except maybe modra, Johnno is an all time favourite...

I was saddest when Roger Hayden retired. At least with MJ, and Pav, McPharlin, etc, I think we could say we saw the best of them. But Hayden's career was badly affected by injuries, and even in spite of them he was a pleasure to watch when fully fit.

Loved him, and am truly saddened that his end was announced by Lyon some weeks ago, and he wasn't given the utmost respect by the club to call it publicly himself.

Love and respect to a true champion of our club. Go well MJ.
Or maybe he’s very shy (or something) and Ross and the club did exactly what he wanted by announcing it for him?

Either way, like everyone I will really miss him, such a fantastic player for such a long time, and just so enjoyable to watch. Best of luck Johnno.

I don’t know why but it made me very teary, normally I don’t really get emotional.

I was brave the whole time I was reading this thread, because anything was better than watching west coast beating up on brisbane. Then I got to this photo. Look at old man johnno, wow, what's he thinking/ feeling and it's obvious who ballas was playing for yesterday. It wasn't ross. Good upon you Michael J.
