I keep seeing this myth.Disappointed. Should have shifted him last year and kept Knobel.
What “myth”? A bit of foresight might have helped. Talented young ruckmen don’t grow on trees. There are more than two players who could have been dropped and picked up in the rookie draft and not attracted another clubs attention. It’s history I suppose but I hate we lost KnobelI keep seeing this myth.
Reidy was always a Rookie. Knobel was delisted to make room on the main list. How would delisting a Rookie help keep Knobel?
They're certainly going to make zero difference to usThose pick upgrades are sure going to make zero difference on draft night

Knobel probably would have left this year for the same reason anywayWhat “myth”? A bit of foresight might have helped. Talented young ruckmen don’t grow on trees. Knobel is not a game changer. Potential talent but still a long way off. He may never make it. Showed some promise in one WAFL game I watched last year - against East Perth from memory against Scott Jones. What “myth”? A bit of foresight might have helped. “Probably”? We don’t know that do we.Knobel probably would have left this year for the same reason anyway
Never said he was a game changer. But he was a young developing ruckmen with potential. Who do we have now in reserve? Who do we have now developing?Knobel is not a game changer. He then got beat the following week and ended up back in the reserves and played mostly WAFL reserves. Been injured this year but showed some improvement with forward craft in the VFL before suffering injury.
I agree with poster about Knobel vs Reidy being irrelevant. Reidy on rookie and Knobel trying to be moved from Main list to rookie.
Lions and Cats have proven you don't really need a top line ruckman as long as you have the midfield.Never said he was a game changer. But he was a young developing ruckmen with potential. Who do we have now in reserve? Who do we have now developing?
However to that point, would never have seen the rise of Pat Voss if Knobel stayed. Reidy was so poor round 1, Jl immediately dropped him and Voss came in and never left.Disappointed. Should have shifted him last year and kept Knobel.
You think Knobel would have come in instead of Reidy after round one if he had stayed. Don’t think so. Ruckmen are a little longer in the tooth before they hit their straps. However to that point, would never have seen the rise of Pat Voss if Knobel stayed. Reidy was done first game of 2025. Ouch
Proven that is the case with a top flight of mature midfielders.Lions and Cats have proven you don't really need a top line ruckman as long as you have the midfield.
Issue is Geelong still have Blicavs who is tall and strong. Stanley is no slouch.Proven that is the case with a top flight of mature midfielders.
Darcy Fort and Oscar have been doing the job so long they can push the younger rucks around.
Geelong have been asking us regularly what we want for Darcy.
As much as I don’t think we need a standout ruck now. We may in 3years time
Darcy is a must. I have been bashing on about his strength and big body that he uses to wear opposition rucks down for Jackson to take over late in games.Issue is Geelong still have Blicavs who is tall and strong. Stanley is no slouch.
Without Darcy, the midfield sucks. Jackson is one of the weakest ruckmen around the ground. His only advantage is at centre bounce.
Fremantle would then probably throw in Treacy or Voss which isn’t ideal.
Either way, Jackson isn’t an ideal first ruck as games progress.Darcy is a must. I have been bashing on about his strength and big body that he uses to wear opposition rucks down for Jackson to take over late in games.
I disagree re Jackson and centre bounces. He is easily put out of position by most big bodied ruckmen at CBs, His weakest part of his rucking. Maybe it will come, maybe not, but right now, it isn't his strength.
He begins to dominate around the ground and at ruck contest late in games because Darcy has done the ground work to wear the opposition down.Either way, Jackson isn’t an ideal first ruck as games progress.
Geelong can get away with Blicavs due to his strength and versatility. If they get Marshall, would probably be an even better outfit
Exactly. Jackson needs Darcy as much as the other way around. He begins to dominate around the ground and at ruck contest late in games because Darcy has done the ground work to wear the opposition down.
Aiden Riddle - developing.Never said he was a game changer. But he was a young developing ruckmen with potential. Who do we have now in reserve? Who do we have now developing?
Again .. annoyed we lost him
