Toast Farewell Shaun Burgoyne

Not many players get universal respect and admiration from oppo supporters. Seems SB is one of the rare ones.

Without his big game performances, particularly in prelims for us, we would not have 2 of our threepeat flags. We owe him alot, and hopefull can have all 4 of his kids represent the HFC in the future (Sorry Port ;) )

Wildest stat I've ever seen.

406 games.

Only 12x 30+ Possession games.

Perhaps a little surprising but not sure it's that "wild" let alone the "wildest ever".

He's a utility that we have played predominantly in a back pocket with the odd stint forward. He gets thrown in the middle only occasionally when absolutely necessary (i.e. trailing in the last quarter of a must win game/final).

30+ possession games is pretty much the domain of full time midfielders, not back pockets that get thrown in the middle for a couple of CBA's late in the game every once in a while.

(For a very loose (and not great) comparison, Dustin Fletcher played loose distributor out of the back half for the last 8 years of his career and only ever 2 30+ possession games in his 400.)

Obviously Burgoyne played more through the middle at Port (where he got most of his 30+ games) but even in his best years (when he was AA, compared to Judd) he only averaged 20 possessions. But he was bursting out of stoppages (hence Judd comparison) kicking goals (39 in 2007) and turning games.

Always been the definition of a high impact player.

Burgoyne breaking games open with his burst, disposal and run is what many of us remember him in his prime years. Could truly be BOG with 20 disposals.

The opposite of your accumulator types.
