Solid season, brilliant in parts but think season 1 had it pretty well covered. Ted Danson and Kirsten Dunst were great in particular.

I think the second season had a more coherent story, but the first season had more compelling characters.

Interesting watching season 2 again after you've just watched season 1 again to see some interesting things you notice.
Towards the end of S1 Lou [Keith Carradine] is on Molly & Gus's porch with a shotgun.In his hand he has a bit of rope that he keeps doing knots with.Towards the end of ep 1 in S2 Lou [Patrick Wilson] is in his bedroom looking out the window and is doing the exact same thing with a bit of rope the same size.Got to be the same bit of rope 27 years later.

I was o/seas and only got back last week and watched the final 4 episodes. It was a brilliant series.

The UFO thing didn't bother me, afterall it appeared in the very first episode. Very much a homage to the Coens. It's also very much explainable in the sense that the story is a "re-telling" which is emphasized with the narrator. I think the only 2 people left alive to tell the story were Lou and crazy Peg.

Can't wait for series 3.

No Hank didn't see it as he was in the motel room bleeding.Ben Schmitt also wouldn't have seen it as Peggy knocked him out in the motel room.

Yeah I thought about him but we know he later dies anyway at the hands of Marvo so in the present narration his story is unknown. Plus, he's a fella that never said much and the narrator even remarks that no-one knows his motives (or words to that effect).

was just reading the same thing on AV Club, Jub - don't mind McGregor, apparently one of his two roles will be as 'the Parking Lot King' - someone pointed out that there's been a somewhat ludicrous 'King' in each season and the movie; the Parking Lot King, the Breakfast King, the Supermarket King and the Accordian King ..

Hanzee was the boss that Malvo killed along with about 50 of his henchmen.

He had facial surgery and changed his name. At the end of season 2 he meets the deaf kid and his friend who became his hitmen.

****en blew my mind when i realised too.

Last ep of season 2 his fake name matches the name of the boss from "the fargo outfit" or whatever from season 1 and he talks about getting plastic surgery. Then he helps those two kids fight off the bullies that were picking on the deaf kid and it was a huge "holy shit!" Moment for me too

And when you see some his dialogue in season 1, in retrospect, it makes a lot more sense. Hanzee left and became his own boss.
