The Billy Bob shoot-em -up was well done. Hopefully we get to see the full carnage next week.

and think of the money they saved!

fantastic episode, lester, WHAT A BAD GUY!

best TV bad guy in ages.

kay & peele as the bungling FBI dudes were cool.

Surely the FBI agents and those on other floors would have heard the automatic gun fire? That part really bothered me.

Yeah they really needed the agents to take off to get some food (continuing the theme of the argument they were having) then come back just as the guy was coming out the window.

Something like that anyway, otherwise they're pushing the suspension of disbelief a bit far.

Didnt the agents have the radio on & windows up? & others in the building probably could hear the gun fire but what could they do other than prepare for the nutter coming up the stairs? I didnt time it but felt like it only took a minute or so start to finish.

Key and Peele are there strictly for comedic value, wouldn't look too hard at them not hearing gunshots, they are meant to be playing complete idiots, casting them both as FBI agents kinda cements it

Lester, disturbingly fascinating. You figure at some point he's going to have the 'what have I done' moment, but that looks so far off that it makes what he's doing now so sinister.

The shootout from two episodes ago was amazing. The opposite of Ozymandias.

yeah the snow was great. it reminded me of a video game, like at the start of Uncharted 3 where u shoot baddies that you can barely see.

Immediately reminded me of the last few parts of the winter chapter in The Last of Us. I wish I could say I felt the same level of tension here though because I could just sense Gus was going to shoot someone he shouldn't have, like a child or lady cop.

These past two episodes have been great though. Lester is absolutely going to lose his hand. That shootout was genius.

I just found the scene as completely implausible which jolted me from the story and was disappointing given how cool the shoot-out sequence was. This isn't Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Scully and Hitchcock have no role in a show like Fargo.

The shoot-out scene done panning around the exterior of the building was brilliant.

I like to think that the volume of the gunfire was amplified for our benefit and wasn't meant to reflect what could be heard outside. But I am a gun ignoramus so the reality of those weapons could be very different!

(the whole show is just slightly surreal...makes it a lot easier to ignore the little flaws if you embrace it.)

Yea and neither does a guy who kills his wife with a hammer because she was annoying or a guy who can teleport out of buildings or a deaf hitman or ridiculously incompetent police force.

No wait, thats the whole show!

Spousal homicide is pretty believable.

or a guy who can teleport out of buildings

You mean a guy who can walk out back doors?

or a deaf hitman

Still doesn't require enough suspension of disbelief to jar you out of the story.

or ridiculously incompetent police force.

Probably closer to your average police force than the collection of beautiful geniuses other shows use.

For some reason I took a break on this show after the second episode, but have since burned through the rest of them in the last couple of nights and I've been totally hooked. I thought they've done a really good job of dovetailing the story into the one covered in the film from almost 20 years ago (!), as well as subverting it in ways. Like in the first episode, where it seems like they've swapped the roles of the male and female cops (ie one a simpleton and the other a common sense genius) and then blast that to hell with a shotgun. They've also done a super job of keeping the Coen Brothers tone, injecting a lot of tension mixed with black humour and straight-out silliness. Plus the weirdo-creep factor.

It really has it all.

Watched the first 7 eps in the last few days with the wife. As a HUGE fan of the Coen's and the film I was always going to give it a try.

Loving it!!! BBT is perfect and Martin Freeman great. Allison Tolman is the steal of the show though.

Having not seen the eps until today I chose not to read this thread until today. However since I haven't seen ep 8 yet spoiler tags must be used until I give the all clear that I've seen it. :thumbsu: cheers thanks for your understanding.

another great episode, just when you think life has moved on lester and BBT are about to cross paths again.

i thought lester would take one look at BBT in the bar and GTFO of there though. perhaps if i was lester, that's what i would have done, mind you if i was lester i probably wouldn't have killed my wife, framed my brother and then got married to that asian bird, he seemed to jump in to that pretty quickly, perhaps he got a bit more than he bargained for there.

and at one stage i thought he was going to jump his sister in law too, now if i was lester and SHE was my sister in law. . . well
