I have really enjoyed this one. Second season? Haven't heard anything, but they'd be silly not to.
New true story, different characters, same vibe.

Like Breaking Bad and True Detective's small town setting, the fans love these colourful crime tales if done well.

You know it's not real, right?

What a great show. Sad it's over.

Very intense episode all round. From Gus scoping out Malvo's house, to Malvo setting up the FBI agents then infiltrating Lester's house, and then Gus shooting Malvo dead.

The writing was on the wall for Lester as soon as you saw the thin ice sign.

A great series.

Fitting finale to an excellent series.

I loved the scene with Lester and the cracking ice. It was a fantastic scene.

Can someone explain to me the metaphor in regard to the story of the man on the train who dropped his other glove? Not sure i get it.

Also, how did Gus get away with effectively murdering Malvo? I'm assuming he planted a gun on him and went self defence? I don't blame Gus, it was the right thing to do and the only way to deal with a predator like Malvo.

There were many similar vibes to No Country For Old Men right throughout that episode. How some people are not even human and pure evil.

Thought the last episode sucked. It was as if a timer went off and the writers said, 'ok time to wrap everything up in the most plausible fashion', Not how the Coen brothers would have done it.

The rest of the series was great, just finished badly.

Kind of reminded me of two books, frstly Miss Smilla's feeling for snow - which was a fantastic read until the last chapter, which was balls becuase the author decided that the story had to be 'explained' and the converse of that, Picnic at Hanging Rock, where the publisher convinced the author that the last chapter was crap. The last chapter was duly left out leaving a finish that realy made the book*

*Book Spoiler, but not in the book, so not really a spoiler - the missing girls transform into lizards.

That final scene with Lester falling in the ice was absolutely brilliant. Pretty much his story throughout, eventually his story (or here the ice) got too thin and cracks appeared and eventually gave away.

You did know that Gus was going to kill Malvo once he went and hid in his hideout.

Now to decide between Mcconaughney and Thorton for best actor this year...

Mcconaughney better dialogue, Thornton better scenes
Yeah I have to agree with this. Both brilliant but McConaughney will get it for just showing such great acting chops in the traditional sense.

Very very good show, did feel slightly disappointed with the way it all finished (or maybe just disappointed it did finish)

My favorite wtf moment in the last episode was Gus just gunning malvo the **** down rather than waiting to see what he was going to say - a weaker tv series would only let that happen after malvo had gone for his gun or something to ensure the hero still had moral superiority.

I suppose one of the things I didn't like about the final episode is Molly didn't really have much to do- I was expecting the last scene to be a climactic shoot out between her and Lester, but no dice.

Also felt the show didn't really have a heap to say underneath the slick production. It was stylish and fun and occasionally very shocking, but none of the characters, except perhaps the chief and gus, really developed that much.

In any event, what a great series - shows what can be done with a good cast and ace writing. These limited run series are really the future of tv, because you can get awesome actors who wouldn't want to commit to a GoT style shooting schedule.

I think that the whole point of Gus killing him without giving malvo a chance was to do with the whole "predator" thing. Malvo was continually hinted at as not being "human" in that references were made to "what" was coming rather than "who". You just couldn't give Malvo a chance because he is so cold and calculated that he will escape the situation. He had to be removed.

The final scenes with Gus and family showed that he had realised that and accepted that he had to kill Malvo and he had no regrets and no apparent bad concience about it either, despite the fact that he was an otherwise totally caring man.

thought it was a great finish to the series.

saaame. no idea.

think the glove reference had to do with Lester being quite logical in his way of thinking (he got the fox, rabbit, cabbage thing) and once Lester loses one glove rather than remain semi warm with one himself, it made more sense to him to throw the second one so that they could be worn "correctly" by the same person and he could consider himself a victim at not only losing one glove, but then having to give up the second because that was the "right" thing to do

but i'm not great on symbolism and metaphors so might be waaaaaaaay off

Great moments within the finale but felt a bit contrived. Not a huge fan of Gus getting the drop on Malvo on pure coincidence. Didn't sit right with me. Not a huge fan of the character. Love the dialogue and ending of the episode with Lester. The whole rabbit fox cabbage, glove metaphors and Carradine's performance was great. 9/10 for the season as good as anything that has come out recently.
