so the actor that played gus is tom hank's son.

learn summin new every day.

think the glove reference had to do with Lester being quite logical in his way of thinking (he got the fox, rabbit, cabbage thing) and once Lester loses one glove rather than remain semi warm with one himself, it made more sense to him to throw the second one so that they could be worn "correctly" by the same person and he could consider himself a victim at not only losing one glove, but then having to give up the second because that was the "right" thing to do

but i'm not great on symbolism and metaphors so might be waaaaaaaay off
I thought the opposite. Someone not like Lester (ie: not a self centred campaigner) would leave the other glove so that whoever finds the first one will be able to use them as they will find a pair. I sometimes strugglew with metaphors and symbolism too though so who knows.

Whatever the point was, I liked the story and thought it was a fantastic finale and on a par with TD for best show of 2014.

it could have just been a weird anecdote that country folk or old people seem to like to tell from time to time. . .. . like grandpa simpson

I think the glove thing was aimed that Lester would never look at anyone else but himself (i.e. the man with the glove, would do only for himself in trying to get the glove or never think to give anyone else a set of gloves). Lester was logical but incredibly selfish - probably more that Molly thought he was intent on harming those around him rather than face up to the facts that he should do the right thing.

Series was a belter for me - couldn't fault it. The dialogue was good, the scenes were often unnerving and left you thinking what will happen. Often would find each shot would have something reflective (i.e. a mirror, a window, a door) and all the time you expect to see something in that reflection (like in the windows when Gus went into Malvo;s house).

Fantastic yet still slightly off-kilter finale.

I read Molly's story as being about letting go - the gloves were Lester's decency and self-respect. He was clinging to what he had left, but it was useless unless it was whole. So he should confess to the crime, let the cops close the case and bring closure to all involved.

Hopefully they think long and hard about what season two would be before they try to replicate this.

.
Yeah, it was just parable about not being selfish. i dont think it was meant to be super significant.

Oh, and a fun side fact... Double L Motors is a real car yard, but it's actually up in Calgary. Even the big sign you saw on the show is real.

I couldn't resist when I saw the URL in the episode!
i lived not far from calgary for a while. Close to the U.S border. Alot of the towns and people around there on both sides of the border are a lot like 'Fargo'

What do people think happened to the guy Malvo made drive in to Lester's in the fake FBI car?

More than satisfied with the finale, just deserts all-round, cant ask for more than that:D

Oh & was around 6c here when I watched it & that episode still got the true cold across beautifully, gotta go & live in snow one day.

Just a quality finish.

I might sort of be a bit indifferent to Gus being the one that got Malvo only because he was the only character on the show I was indifferent about, but I can appreciate that it was the perfect conclusion to his story.

Fantastic series, would not object at all to see it return in some fashion though you'd want Allison Tolman to be in it. I'm gonna miss that Fargo score.

Not a patch on Game of Thrones, but probably my second favourite show of the year so far.
Yeah not sure about that - very different shows but I would place Fargo above and beyond GoT in terms of enjoyment.

The finale for Fargo summed up the differences for me.

While I was happy to see the bad guys die and everything get wrapped up in a nice little bow, it was still pretty predictable and formulaic television compared to the 'never know what's coming' adrenaline ride that is GoT.

yeah but at least there were just 4 central characters who's storyline progressed at a human pace rather than 500 characters getting 1 line each every second episode

never watched that.

However I have really been enjoying New Detective on the recomendation of a few people in this thread.

Ah, so you're the one person in Australia who hasn't seen it.

Well worth a look. Took me ages to get talked into watching it because I thought 'fantasy' stuff was lame, but it's absolute quality. Really it's just sex, violence and politics with a vague hint of fantasy in the background.

True Detective with McConaughey?

I just watched the first ep after hearing people rave about it and I was very impressed. Will probably smash through the whole season next week.

I am hopeless at trying to work those sort of things out but I reckon you nailed it - Molly's telling Lester she has the dropped glove, ie she knows he dunit, & as you say if he has any self respect & decency left then drop the other glove/confess all so they can all move on/survive this.

I watched the lot last week - phwoar what a show!

Up there with True Detective for best series of the past year.
