Interesting episode. Next to no focus on Ed & Peggy throughout. Ed is obviously lying re: Dodd.

Shit is going to hit the fan when Flo & Dodd find out Bear killed Dodd's daughter.

Interesting to see what will happen now with Dodd, The Indian and Ed/Peggy.

Milligan's killing of The Undertaker and his goons was ruthless.

Lying about having Dodd? Mmm don't think so.

How does Ed have Milligan's phone number? Unless I've forgotten they haven't had any interaction this season have they?

The Gerhardts appear to know about the Pearl Hotel being a KC base, hence why I think Dodd or Hanzee could be involved.

"You're a shit cop... You know that, right?"

(Props to the writers for remembering to answer the Hank-Peggy question.)

Not sure if it has been mentioned here, but the "shit cop" Ben Schmidt is also in Season 1 of Fargo - he is Gus Grimly's boss.

Season 1 Quote:
Lou Solverson: You associated with Ben Schmidt? Think he's a lieutenant now.‪‎
Gus Grimly: Yes, sir. He's my boss.
Lou Solverson: Kind of a prick.
Gus Grimly: That's the one.

The only reason I don't think they have Dodd is because they showed Dodd and the Blumquist household and I assumed Ed & Peggy were long gone.

That threw me as well, but it was a flashback to last episode. They also had a shot of Rye before he died.

So how did they get Dodd in the trunk of the car ?
Ed wasn't there,as he was in the Police station,so did Peggy get him up the stairs from the basement and in the trunk by herself ?
Ed wasn't there at the time of the cattle prodding, but he did 'escape' that night and may have turned up within a shortish period of time, around an hour

He did? I saw him pointing a gun but heard no shot and saw no blood (although it was stormy at my place and the power had gone off so I may have missed it)

no they definitely cut away without a shot being heard, nor could we make out her body hitting the ground from the high aerial shot ..

at the time I thought it was just a stylistic choice and he definitely would've followed through (he had a line like 'it was already decided')

.. however, if they're gonna take their Miller's Crossing tribute to it's logical conclusion, Simone could become a very very awkward loose end for the Gerhardts and particularly Bear ..

I'd lean toward her being dead, but there was enough ambiguity for either eventuality to have played out ...

edit: btw, anyone who has never seen Millers Crossing, and isn't aware of the Bernie Bernbaum/Tom Reagan walk into the woods, it is a stone cold classic scene on it's own, and the rippling consequences made for both an excellent movie and some more brilliant scenes which directly relate to that initial fateful walk (trying not to spoil a 25 year old movie, which may be being a tad over-cautious!)

What was with all the symbols in the study? I presume that was Ted Danson's study?

yup, Danson's study - kinda tying in some of the loose UFO stuff, from what I could tell ... someone more astute than me speculated that his character may be looking for an answer/cure to Betsy's cancer via the symbols ..

I thought it might have been a Zodiac killer reference- ie a hobbie since his wife had died?

for sure .. it was odd that Betsy had such a strong reaction (I know probably cancer-related) at that very moment.

actually just watched something on the 'net where someone had freeze-framed some of the shots, the words 'sick' 'dead' and 'family' where among them, so I'll stick with my (stolen) interpretation at this point - could've meant anything though ... it was a weirdly staged scene, the way it was shot I half-expected one of the Gerhardts or KC City crew to be laying in wait ...
