I’m enjoying the current season but don’t get using Chris Rock as one of the main characters, keep expecting him to crack a joke. The casting of Jason Swartzman as an Italian mafioso is even worse....

I‘m loving this season. The work from all of the supporting characters (Gataeno, Doctor Senator, the Rabbi, Nurse Mayflower) is superb. Each has a distinct quirky character.

It’s funny that that least effective are the two biggest names: Rock and Schwartzman). That said, I don’t think either is terrible. I think Rick is holding up perfectly fine.

I've only watched two episodes so far, but my expectations have been well and truly met and exceeded (considering some of the reviews). I thought the opening montage of the different ethnic mobs moving in was done incredibly well and the recurring theme of Duke Ellington's "Caravan" in different styles fit it all together so perfectly. And I've really enjoyed Chris Rock underplaying his character; gives him a sense of gravitas that matches his greying hair and immediately pits himself as the opposite of Schwartzman's young and trigger-happy counterpart. His brother is obviously going to be the typical Coen Brothers menacing character, which I'm very looking forward to seeing the outcome of.

Ep 9 was a ripper..yeah so many Wiz references from the dog to yellow line in the road to store called T Woodman to Witches (sisters) of east and west etc

Will Satchel take on Milligan’s name and become Mike Milligan?

I was getting some Man Who Wasn't There vibes as well, an underrated Coen brothers film.
I've never got round to watching that one yet, for some reason. Everyone says it's a pretty great film.

Also, I'm REALLY enjoying this season of Fargo. Depending on how they stick the landing, it'll probably be my second favourite (after the first one of course).

East/West was brilliant, Ethelrida and Satchel gave great performances, Winshaw was the beating heart of the season (but underutilised) and Rock grew on me by the end.

But still comfortably rates the lowest out of the four seasons. A pretty predictable ending too, but I'll be back for a S5 if there is one.

This guy (Ben Whishaw) needs so much more love. He was amazing in 'Criminal Justice' (the original of 'The Night Of') & I'm currently watching him in 'London Spy' and he's fantastic again.

Like you said, he was so under-utilised in this season of Fargo and could have been like the surprising ultimate centrepiece or something.

And get this; he's 40 years old. I swear, he's gonna look like he's 25 for the rest of his life!

I really loved this season, although the final episode was a bit too much of tying everything up in a neat little bow. If I was to rank them all, I'd probably go 1-3-4-2, but I thought they were all really great. But for this season, I was hooked in from the introduction in episode 1 (the history of organised crime) and never felt like I drifted away at all.

Filled to the brim with Coenesque characters, like the skittish but dangerous nurse, the impossibly intimidating Gaetano, the moral compass of the funeral director's daughter, the wild lawlessness of the aunt and her lover, the uptight but brilliant Marshall, the pathetic head of the Italian Mafia. Plus the ambition to show the interplay of the immigrant experience with that of black America was really interesting too. For me, the best moments tended to involve the Irishman and the young kid bonded together over their experience of being loaned as collateral to their enemy's family. His death was so unfair!

Also, the directing is like nothing else on TV. Each season the show has been put together so incredibly well, with perfect music placement and the way scenes are shot and then cut together is just brilliant. I shazammed so many songs this season! And how great was the episode all in black and white. I think I love it when shows really try for something big and different and then manage to pull it off.

One other thing, the crooked cop with OCD could've been a horrible one-note stereotype, but I thought he was played exceptionally well. My wife thinks I might have given him more redeeming factors than he actually had because of how the actor portrayed Richard in Boardwalk Empire. Pretty similar characters in a lot of ways, but he was fantastic at bringing them both to life.

I know a lot of people seemed to get bored with this season, but I really enjoyed it and will be hanging out for a season 5.

Finally got round to finishing this, thought is was just ok. I mean, probably rating it harshly, it's Fargo after all so pretty good, but weakest season for mine.

Just didn't buy quite a few character motivations and moments. No idea why anyone would be lining up against the status quo with the psycho brother when he first arrived for example, he seemed to turn Calamita in 5 seconds flat for no particular reason.

I had no idea that was Richard from Boardwalk Empire until halfway through the season, great performance.

Liked Timothy Olyphant's work too, although the dude seems to be typecast by his Deadwood and Justified days. Played essentially the same character in this, and the latest Mandalorian season too.

Will Satchel take on Milligan’s name and become Mike Milligan?

Wow great pick.

Season 5 is confirmed, with a pretty decent cast.

Can’t wait; with Better Call Saul finished, this would easily be the show I look forward to most.

Just reading an article from that link about the s4 finale and even though it was scarcely six months since I watched it I can't even remember how most of the main characters died. I remember the man tripping over and the tornado, but that's it. They're talking about betrayal and whatnot but I have no recollection of how it all went down. Kinda sums up the season for me, forgot about it as soon as I finished watching it.
