Well, I've never seen anything like it. Without wanting to exaggerate, Jeff Farmer was sensational in today's game against Collingwood. Unfortunately, it may prove difficult to find statistics to identify how unique it may have been.

Farmer kicked 9 goals, all in the second half, including 6 in the last quarter and played only 40 or so minutes of football. It's pleasing that in a team game, you can still get dominant individual brilliance such as this.

I remember Darren Bewick put on a similar display against Geelong in 1996 when he also kicked 9 goals, but I'm sure he spent most of the game on the ground and his goals weren't exclusively in the second half.

Magical forwards like Farmer, Burns and Vardy are so exciting to watch when they are in top form. Due to the nature of their roles, the line between kicking a bag of goals and not getting a touch seems to be extremely thin. Still, why would you ever take impact players like this off the ground when they are a constant, unpredictable threat?

I'm guessing that the Footystats Diary will have some commentary on this next week. How about it Kevin, any records of players matching Farmer's bag of goals?
