Yes we've all been this path before , the ability to inconstantly stuff up I'm afraid is something you have to cope with , whilst players gain experience and Farmer's disposal is inconstant , his best is simply brilliant worst is terrible , not that disimilalr to our whole sides ability .
Just don't got out on a limb on this bloke , might just prove a few very very wrong , could also be axes ?;):thumbsu:

?!!??!
How many simply brilliant games has Farmer played?

You seriously overate him or have very low standards for the term "simply brilliant".

I like this post pebble. You've hit a few nails on the head. A lot of people don't want any more skinny runts running around. Farmer has still only played 28 AFL games, so to see him make the odd mistake is hardly surprising.

The only attribute that I may be a little worried about is a lack of pace for his size, which someone else mentioned. But it may not be a big issue for him.

if he's been carrying injuries then the guy has to be cut some slack....

my impression (from a distance) is that Ive never seen him dominate his position, (let alone a game)... he only seems to pop up in impressive cameo moments in the 4th quarter when things are desperate...... so is that a trait that imples potential for a fit player in his 3rd year or a trait that implies he has a fatal flaw that has already been exposed in an injured player and we are waisting precious time and resources persisting with him?

He's an interesting case because he's the exact type of Level 2 player that will always be contentious and the club's judgement will have a real bearing on our future.... the kind of decisions we've got wrong alot in the past 15 years (players on our list too long/not long enough)

Really don't rate him. Worst player in our 22 at the moment, I really hope Hardwick gets over his love affair with this guy. He losing contests and makes poor decisions. Delist.

The one thing Farmer has is a booming kick. He is one of the few at our club who can hit targets at 55 to 60m.
Do not underestimate the importance of this. With the modern day forward press anybody that can do that is an important weapon. It is impossible to set up an effective zone so far out. He has had a lot of injury and a restricted preseason. I think he is slowly working his way through this. Will be interesting watching him in the last two games. They may decide his future.

Not sure if anyone is really interested but I've just heard that Mitch Farmer has signed to play for Romsey in 2012...

Ive actually already forgotten about him.

Must be a massive change for a player to leave an AFL club and go to a club like Romsey. Probably have to put up with all your teammates asking you for gossip within Richmond. Im guessing this because I would do it.

Good to hear updates. Its Farmers fault, not yours, Rubber Hips that the update is incredibly boring.

thanks for not holding this against me mate

...believe me I was at pains as to whether I should or shouldn't have provided the update...sometimes I think some things are better left unsaid.

Maybe I went early? In 10 years time we could have had a laugh at the spuds like Farmer that once played for us in the "where are they now?" thread

Agree, this is just sad.

I think its a little time after they retire that we get this odd curiosity as to what happened to them.

Perhaps we want to revel in the fact that they are just no longer there, before wondering where they are now.

I took 5 seconds from my life by googling his name with Romsey to find an article on it but its either not official yet or not even Google can find any article interested enough in it.

Will they interrupt tonights Big Bash game with the breaking news. Big career launching scoop for any journalist who visits this page.

Thats weird, i posted that link on another forum earlier and when i fetched it to post here it just went to the sites home page.

must have something to do with poxy java

anyways it's out there now one way or another

I think y'all got the wrong guy, the article says he's an 'aggressive speedster with a strong vertical leap'. Can't be our Mitch Farmer.

you ever seen anyone waddle as fast as he could?

Never realised he captained the Calder Cannons to the TAC Premiership.

I have also just learnt that Mitch Farmer was really Steve Jobs' right hand man - most of Apple's success should be attributed to Mitch

...then there is also the theory of relativity, splitting the atom, pasteurisation, sticky notes, gravity, combustion engine, velcro...

Was a bit stiff battled an injury all year and delisted without much of a chance to find form, would have preferred to keep him instead of some of our other duds tbh

Romsey must be stoked to have such a fleet footed player like Mitch...
All the best to him and the club

Romsey is pretty happy to have him at the club

They should go back to back Go Redbacks!

This is BS. Velcro was invented by Fev's Mum after her wool scarf got stuck to her moustache, everyone knows that.

Nah broddo didnt waddle like a duck. He may not have been quick but he was a naturally gifted sportsman though

Farmer gave it a go, but sadly failed to cut it at the highest level.

This being said, apparently that's not enough for some here, he needs to disappear and never kick a sherrin again

Also not enough that he lost his job, for some there is still the need to keep on kicking him in the guts

We picked him, not the other way around. We sacked him, not the other way around. Given this, why is he a piece of scum not worthy of playing for Romsey?

Personally I'm happy when any former afl player goes back to the local leagues to do there thing. Wish more would do it.
