We are going to end up with a key forward from somewhere, the longer the week goes the more desperate we will become.

Then its settled.. Another Dud for a year with no real progression... Should play the young kids and give them some on the spot experience instead of easing them into the lions pitt..

Looking more and more likely that we'll keep Faz I reckon. I'm glad the club won't give him away. I know Faz is a target here but most would agree here that at the VERY worst he is a very handy depth player; all clubs need them. Certainly not worth giving away for late 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder. I genuinely don't believe he'd enter the PSD either. As far as I can tell, club and player have a decent working relationship, Faz just believes his best options are elsewhere.

If we're not prepared to give up more than just a second rounder,(a decent player has to be included) as we don't have a first round draft pick now, then we are going to end up with something average. In hindsight this problem should have been adressed five years ago, not now.

Hopefully we do get a good trade that we can be happy with for Ray. If not(no Schultzs or Boyles please!!!!!!!!!!) then this may be the reality check Farren needs to come out next year and prove himself.

The other side of the coin is if we do not trade and he has another disappointing year then a de listing with no trade value becomes a real possibility. Tough decision for the club.

Won't be that desperate

I would say the odds are in favor of one ending up on the PSD.

If someone like a Boyle came at a reasonable price which in my opinion is around pick #48 or beyond, fine do the deal.

For Campbell (Freo 10 career games 24yo next year) I would be looking for him and a 3rd round draft pick about #37 for Ray; no less.. no upgrading.. player + pick. Honestly Campbell a year older and 60 games less than Farren says it all, I dont think much of him.

Even Ashley Hansen turning 26yo next season looks like he had a terrible season last year, and I would expect him and a draft pick about #53 for Ray if that move went ahead; no less.. no upgrading.. player + pick

But I would be putrid if the club paid over the rate with a 2nd round draft pick for a forward looking for a second/last chance.

One thing I know is that Farren will most likely still be a listed AFL player in 3 years time. The tall forwards we are seeing on the market would probably be less than a 50/50 chance to be listed in the AFL in 2 years time.

Ray for Hansen for would be a steal.

But I agree that I'd be bitterly disappointed if the club gave away their second pick for a tall forward who's looking for another chance. I'd be more then, I'd be livid.

Are there any suitable forwards who arent contracted that want to leave? Cambell, despite wanting to leave, is contracted for another year, so we cant make Freo a take it or leave it offer.

Hansen 26yo start of 2009 kicked 10 goals from 13 games this year.

I am slightly suspicious that he is passed his use by date.

I would definitely him and a draft pick for Farren. Farren is too good for a straight swap in this case and will only be 23yo at the start of 2009.

woosha said hed only trade hansen for an exceptional deal...
prob early 2nd rounder
and if hansen was traded for ray itd be wbd adding picks on not wce

And that is why the deal would more than likely stall. I doubt the Bulldogs would be that interested in him.

That there is as good as bargin tool as you will get..

Ray isnt that bad i would delist some before him, besides having one of the best lung conditions/capacity in the league teams will look for that kind of fitness and if a club does look deep enough we may be able to get sumthing half decent for him whether be old or mid twentys.

I'm sick of this scum sucker and his dropkick manager.

He is wasting a lot of our football departments time this trade week.

If we are at a stage where we need to swap a pick as well as this cretin to get a trade on an injury riddled 26 year old like Ashley Hansen, then I would prefer we just DON'T

I'm at the stage where I reckon we should just walk away from this turkey and his parasitic intestinal worm like adviser, at let them rot in a pile of their own chook poop.

Hope you end up somewhere you don't want to go.

And we keep our draft pick in our pocket to use on someone who unlike you has an ounce of loyalty.

Bulldogs' football manager James Fantasia was told yesterday that Ray will not agree to remain at Whitten Oval under any circumstances.

"It's up to the Bulldogs to get a deal done because otherwise he'll go through the pre-season draft," said Ray's manager, Rick Olarenshaw, who spoke with Fantasia yesterday.

"Farren wants to see a win-win deal struck. He'd like to get to the club of his choice and see the Bulldogs get something in return. That would be good. If not, then he will go for nothing.
