Rumour Fas was rumoured to be heading back to WA

Brave young man writing that piece and expressing those thoughts. Can do a lot for a community that is still sceptical about the impact of mental health.

I hope he's getting all the support he needs and wish to see him in black and white next year.

Maybe we could have one which said "Rumour, Blair offered 5 year extension will be a pie for life" or "Rumour Mayne accepts contract price reduction and will stay on to mentor the VFL"

You can only report what you hear. No follow up whatever of which I am aware, but the article on Fasolo has proved an interesting addition, muddying the 'go home' waters a bit, but shedding light on Fasolo's depression and efforts to overcome it.

I've never rated Fasolo. Highly over rated on this board when he played early matches. Calls of the next Daicos.

Yeah, you rated Schade... Clearly a more skillful and important player for the side.

That article is an important part of the process that will help Alex develop the tools to manage his depression. I can't just view him as a footballer having read that, as it exposes his human side.

Whether he leaves or stays, I'd like to see him thrive and get on top of this.

With all the bad noise about the club it's good to read that they have provided important support for him.

The curious thing about this kind of thing is how it came to be reported ...

... these kinds of things don't appear on the Channel 7 News because a friend of a friend overheard Fas' neighbour's dog talking about blah blah blah.

It appeared on the Channel 7 news because either ...

(A) Somebody from Fas' camp told Channel 7 (Fas' manager) to further their agenda.

(B) Somebody from the Collingwood camp told Channel 7 to further their agenda.

(C) Somebody from one of the WA clubs told Channel 7 to further their agenda

My guess is (A). The agenda would be to signal that "Fas is gone". It's the Wellingham situation all over again (Video leaked to the media of Wellingham walking through WC's side entrance while he was still under contract at Collingwood)

This is the more likely scenario - time and time again, stuff that is posted on Bigfooty finds its way into the media. It's well known that a number of journalists trawl through Bigfooty for info and stories. This Fas thing was posted here a couple of months ago as random speculation based on nothing more than he has depression and is from WA, it gains a bit traction and becomes a discussion point over the weekend into Monday in our trade thread (& presumably on the Eagles and Freo board, haven't checked but likely). Nek minnut ... Ch7 reporting it on Tues night.

Based on Fas's piece that was published yesterday on his ongoing battle with depression, it would appear highly unlikely that this "rumour" has any substance and that's the risk to their credibility these journalists run when they choose to publish unfiltered, random thought bubbles off the internet/social media. But hey, whatever generates clicks and viewers goes these days - research and verification, nah.

Agree. Would not Shock me at all that is Where the Stories Started on Here and someone and Rumor Grew and someone in the Media Read it here or on Social Media and Decided to go with it
