He wouldnt be effective in starvation corner if the backs and mids get beaten. Needs to be positioned, temporarilly at least, where we have players missing. We dont have players missing up forward apart from Reid.

We have no players up forward apart from Cloke, Reid or Elliott.

We need him forward, big time.

I get the feeling that Fasolo spending some time down back will be an asset to the forward line in the years to come. He's adding a defensive element to his game that doesn't come as naturally to him as attacking.

His kicking ability will only benefit the back line in the short term as well.

If we do the maths we are short in the defensive half of the ground and not the forward line. Other than Pendles most of our midfield rest in the forward line as well. We clearly need the numbers down back, why not Fas?

As I said can't understand the love for him but happy to be proven wrong.

I've seen that expression so many times in this forum...."happy to be proven wrong". I started thinking about all the things that I'd be happy to be proven wrong
.......Jarrod Witts becoming the greatest ruckman of all time
.... Luke Ball winning a brownlow
.....Gary Ablett saying that he'll come to Collingwood and play for free...
....emily ratajkowski calling me up and saying that's she's coming over for a sleepover..

It's been awhile since we have had someone that pin point out of the back half. Clement maybe. Between Fasolo, O'Brien and Sidebottom we are generating some real quality run from half back. And if I am being honest I didn't see where it was going to come from 4 weeks ago. It's really good coaching actually and Buckley should get some props for those moves.

Forgotten about Leon Davis already?

Fasolo isnt as good as Leon yet but he had a great game today.

I have to admit I didn't think this would work, I thought he'd be too lazy and not defensive minded enough, but I was plain wrong.

Genius move by that bloke in the coaches box who according to some shouldn't be coaching us.:thumbsu:

Hopefully he's half as good defending as he is in offence. We're yet to see him really be tested as a defender.

He is a lovely kick, a good decision maker and strong overhead.

Sky is the limit for him if he's prepared to work hard enough.

Yes I was completely wrong with my opinion on this move. We have lacked kicking skills in our back line but Fasolo has been outstanding with his kicking and his ability to find the ball and get it out of the back line.

Genius move by Buckley!

Yeah, hopefully he puts in the hard yards required. Showed a nip of pace today too, so he's obviously got confidence back in his ankle/feet.

Perhaps we have another "swingman" in the making. Would be nice to have another card other than the "move reid to wherever he isn't". Fas still needs to work on actually defending his opponent but was very good today. Must be careful not to talk players up to much after a win like today's. May be setting ourselves up for a fall when we play the top sides.

I still think wing is his go longer term. Williams, Seedsman, Sinclair and Scharenberg all likely go in the back half at some point. Possibly Benny Broomhead too, and Ramsay if he makes the grade. There just won't be the need for him to play strictly as a defender. He's strong overhead and could be a helluva linking player for us and hitting someone on the tit inside 50.

Showed why he is a seriously important player for us.

Nearly always makes the right decisions, great hands, ELITEEE kick great in traffic...

I LOVE THE FAS !

Bucks said that Fasolo "could be anything" and is only down there to develop his defensive game. Pretty much implied they plan on him playing midfield.

Sweet. I haven't even had the chance to see this week's game yet, but I'm rapt to hear Fas played well in any case.

His kicking out of the half back is absolutely delicious! It's exactly what we've been missing, and he competes well as well as distributing it great. Was what we've been missing for a while. Great transition.

Robbo's been on the piss again;

@Robbo_heraldsun: @AlexFasolo hey fas, rate your first game in defence out of 10? will give you 8.5 for today..

First game, WTF?o_O

I didn't think he was cut out for it. But he just might be. He could be a weapon coming out of the backline like Leon was. He will get more attention now though.
