there is no other team
Im a big wrap for the Fas, but after watching him today, he needs to lift and start dominating games. He def has the talent, just needs the poise and smarts.
Needs to cut out the fancy individual glory chasing moments and stick to the tem play.
If and when he improves we will be even stronger.

He does need to lift. He definitely has the talent and potential but some of his decision making is a little ugh to watch. I think, at times, he is a bit selfish and he needs to, like you said, stick to the team play. Individuals don't win games and he should stop trying to do all these fancy things because most times, especially since it's his second season, he won't be able to pull it off. I like him, I really do, but he just needs to be more team orientated. He'll be right given time.

agree & disagree to an extent.

fas is the explosive do anything type. while he has responsibility to do the defensive things for the team, he is likely given licence to do & try the team lifting things, rather than concentrate on always finding the better option etc. and like many of our mid size, he'd probably rise to the occasion in the midfield mix, but theres about 8 in front of him at present.

embarrassment of riches.

Dominating games????

You might be a little ahead of yourself. He just needs to contribute a few goals and pressure defenders.

His role is not to dominate or be a match winner.

It's not very often you get half forward flankers or forward pockets dominating games!

No doubt he needs to pull his finger out and get his hands on the footy more, just not doing enough atm.

He is a beautiful kick and we need to make more of it.

This kid can be anything. Hands off him. I was happy he had those shots at goal because he has a tendency to pot them. Dont tell me we didnt all expect him to slot those efforts through. Got x factor written all over him. Tried to take mark of the year as well. Is not afraid and has an explosiveness about him I love.

A commentator, can't remember who, made a fairly accurate observation about Fas that I agreed with. His statement was "I'm a bit worried Fasolo has become just a cameo player early in his career."

I think this about where he is at the moment. He needs to contribute a goal or two a game and a few GAs and he will be fulfilling his role in the team. Tackle count from yesterday suggests he was doing more than just getting fancy touches.

I think we all want Fas to get more of the ball because his kicking is such a true weapon of our forward line and generally good things happen after he gets it.

He's just out of nappies!

I took note of his tackling yesterday. He locks his opponents up....they go to ground. He doesn't need any teammates to give him a hand. He could teach all the players under 50 games how to tackle. His kicking is a weapon. Yesteday, he kicked over his shoulder in search of a match-winner, but he usually makes them.

Commentators who make nasty comments about very young Collingwood footballers are usually supporters of other teams.

I'm happy enough with his form, could have kicked 3 yesterday but pushed them wide, is in our best 22 IMO especially now we've lost Krak and the Caff, very similar player to the Caff actually.

Right now he is ahead of Sinclair and Seedsman. If we had a full list available I'd drop him back to the VFL toplay midfield and run into top form and confidence. As we have so mnay out he should be in the side but he does need to do more throughout a match.

In the next few weeks we should get Didak, Thomas and Shaw into the side. That will put pressure on Fasolo's spot and allow us to drop him back to find form. Those 3 ins probably come at the expense of Sinclair, Seedsman and Buckley so Fasolo comes under pressure from the next smaller sized in. Ball, Krakour and Macaffer being injured helps him keep his spot but he will need to play better to keep in-form players from the VFL pushing him out.

i still think he can be a dominator.
Has amazing talent and abilities.
Reminds me of Daisy when he was starting, flairy, does the unexpected things, just needs time and experience I guess to make sure more of those 'exciting' things pull off.
If he really started hitting form and nailing those snaps and freakish bits of play we will be unstoppable.
:D

I love Fas, good mark, good kick...tad selfish at times which can be frustrating, but it can also be amazing (ala Essendon last year). Probably has performed a little lower than expected though..he'll come good.

So was Thomas when he started now look at him?

Seriously the kids played 18 games cut him some slack!

If he's floating in and out of games like this with 40-50 under his belt then there'd be cause for concern, but for the time being he's playing his role and IMO 6 I50's (from 7 kicks) and 6 tackles suggests he's playing it pretty well.

FWIW he's up in most statistical categories on 2011.

The problem with success is supporters expect miracles from every player that comes into the side. He is tied for second in the club goal kicking and getting the numbers a small forward should get. The best part is he gets into the right positions to get the shots roving as well as strong enough to mark one on one he will be a great talent in the future.

We have two young small forwards at the moment they both need time.

nah not so much that he needs to lift, but that he has to try and stop kicking goals from 60 metres, when they continnually fall short and get punched through for a behind. Its as if he's expecting some sort of miracle to occur and for the swarm of opposition players to simply vacate the square and let it bounce through... Either that or he's trying to kick it around the body/over his head, and that he's never heard of passing off to a team mate with a better chance of scoring the goal. He is a very selfish player and if it weren't for so many injuries I'd have him playing in the VFL until he can consistently do whats best for the team (even if he does have a shot at goal, just as long his kicking for it is the best option)
