Tasmania Fastest way to get a Tasmanian AFL club

Yep, I disagree with Hodgman - one size does not fit all as well you know.

$s go to the clubs not the AFL, poor attempt at spin.

and the clubs make up the AFL...

Would you prefer - $6M in the ~$100M annual revenue of those 2 clubs is a relatively minor factor?

The AFL missed the opportunity to establish a Tassie club when it did not withdraw Essendon's license in the wake of that club bringing the game into disrepute through systemic jabbing up of its players.

The license could have been transferred to Tassie. The banned players post suspension would have been obliged to move there as part of the base, with contracts honoured. As the players played a part in the scandal, part of their sanction would be making the move.

As per usual the AFL sought to smooth everything over and sanctioned the disgraced club with a feather. Had it shown a scintilla of guts and imagination and decency the ongoing stench of the Essendon saga would be avoided, the new Tas team would have kept many of the old Dons fans as well as attracting apple isle support and a clean slate would have been established. An extra bonus would have been some rationalisation of the number of Melbourne based clubs.

1) how do you force players against their will to play in tassie? If efc had its licence withdrawn they would have gobe into the draft to avoid it

2) no efc supporter or coterie would adopt the club that replaced them by force

Why discuss something that didn't happen, then discuss what the players might do about something that didn't happen?

The whole proposition is not worth fantasising about.

The players will do as they're told. They can go into the draft and possibly lose their 100k plus jobs, or they can move with their business, like many normal people have to...

The fans, on the other hand...
