The grandfather of former Nth Melbourne full-forward, John Longmire, won Fitzroy's Best First Year Player Award in 1948? He was recruited from Corowa, after winning the Morris Medal for the best player in that league in 1947, but went back up to the Murray in 1949. What is his name?
 
I'll leave the question open for another day or two.

There can't have been many players, who only played for the Roys during 1948.

The answer is Keith Williams, who played 18 games & kicked 12 goals as a ruckman & key forward in his brief career with
the Roys.

It was a tough question, so I'll give Mobbenfuhrer a point, for at least answering.
 
Sorry at the cricket and, anyway didn't know the answer, ran into a couple of geezers in their Fitzroy jumpers, and we won, sorry I know Kev it's a footy board.
