With the birth today of Roo's first son, I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread containing a list of all our F/S eligible kids.

The following is a list of all players who have been good enough to represent the Adelaide Football Club on 100+ occasions. Below each of them are their male progeny.

I'm sure there are many more that I am unaware of, so post in this thread and I will update the OP. If possible, include the year in which they will be eligible for drafting (assuming they're good enough). I did find a previous thread which gave draft years for these kids, but some of them may have changed due to the recent rule changes regarding draft age limits.

I haven't listed the SANFL eligible sires and I can't honestly be bothered doing so. We only have a few more years before their eligibility lapses anyway.

* - indicates that this player is eligible for a second club as well.

Connor McLeod already sounds like a champion.

What are the ages of these kids? Importantly do they play AFL ?

It will be a very very proud day for the history of the AFC when we recruit our first "authentic" father-son into this club.

From what I hear Stefan Jarman could be a good one !

From what ive seen, i wouldnt hold your breath.

I mean good kid, good player but from what ive seen he didnt look like a standout player but there is still plenty of time and i dont wish to heap the pressure on, but i dont think he has it in him.

Obviously not making the comparison, but the same thing was said about Gary Ablett Jr, didnt stand out at junior level, picked and drafted on name alone

Now look

Now look

fair enough. lol He is an Ablett.

But AJ is no Ablett.

But you can talk about DJ in the same breath as an Ablett.

I see AJ's son as a serviceable player as opposed to a champion.

I see Connor McLeod as a champion. (no pressure - C-MAC) Why? well I think his father will groom him appropriately to play AFL. :thumbsu:

As I said, I wasnt comparing him to Ablett, I was making the point that you shouldnt write off a 13 year old

in 10 years time there won't be a F/S rule.

and from a competition standpoint that is probably for the best.

Your first point is bs, and your second point is even bigger bs

As long as the real power is footy (Collingwood) has a little Jet in the wings it'll stay, trust me

And secondly it is a great bit of footy tradition that should be kept alive

If you want a truly professional and even comp (which, considering we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars, you probably should), you wouldn't have a father-son.

But sports aren't always logical, and there are quirks in every sport. I think it'll stay, because Australians are so nostalgic for stuff like this.

Perhaps two years ago. You have to pay the value for the pick now, it's even.

I think there will still be a father/son rule but no-one really knows how the eligability/drafting rules will stand by then after the yearly re-appraisal.
Probably just depends how it best looks after the vic clubs.

The new rules have made it fair in terms of the price paid for the F/S selections.

Questions remain over how many games the father needs to have played in order to qualify. The AFL are talking about reducing the number of games in order to make more kids eligible, a counterbalance to the draft concessions being handed to the two start-up clubs.

OK, I see my carefully planned mission to fob BS on you has not been successful.

I'll know better next time.

they do genuinely seem to change the rules every year.
That suggests to me, that is all a bit up in the air.

I just think it will get 86'ed in the not too distant future, and Geelongs success right now is doing it no favours at all.
