100% 2nd would be overs, but I feel he is more valuable to us than a 3rd rounder.
Yeh agree. Lets not forget that one reason, albeit not the only one, he's not getting a regular game is the star quality in the one's.
Definitely worth persevering with rather than get a shitty 3rd rounder. Of course if it helps a deal get done for one of our targets then you do it.

It's in his best interests to leave, he will be nothing but a backup at Port. And at his age you don't want to be a backup, it won't bode for a long career. If he goes to a club like West Coast or maybe even the Crows he would be a walk up start to the midfield.

His value is basically nothing, it's more about letting the player find other opportunities and us to open a list spot and free a bit of cap space. We will need list spots going into this trade period if we are bringing in 3+ players.

Not even close.

He's a better midfielder than Petrucelle, ONeill and Edwards who have all had midfield time this season. Shuey is retiring and Gaff is a corpse.
O'Neill is in there as an occasional tagger, the other two average less than 20% CBA's a game.

Kelly, Sheed, Yeo, Ginbey and Hewett would all be miles ahead of Mead for midfield time.

Yeo is towards the end. I think he would make their side

Remember at the end of last year, all the talk was that the Bulldogs were very into Jimmy Rowe and then he wound up playing for Woodville West Torrens?

That's Mead's destiny. Bound for the state leagues.

Nice puff piece on the PAFC website about Mead (have a read if you can handle it being written by Rucci).

I like his attitude. Prepared to learn other positions to contribute to the team. Well spoken. Not even thinking about leaving Port for greater opportunity elsewhere. Hope he does well this year.

For whatever his strengths might be, I’ll never understand how a 27yo former WWT, who only managed 4 games the year he was delisted from a bogstandard Freo outfit, managed to come aboard and scale such giddy on-and-off field heights at Alberton.

I think it's a pathetic framing "After taking a lesson that squad depth... is vital in a long premiership race". That's always been the case for the past 150 years, how is it that a master coach and top level football department weren't aware of that and needed to have a lesson. Especially galling since that coach has been allowed to completely 'build' that list himself and for some reason packed it with so many players that he thought were worse than a barely mobile Dixon, Lycett and co.

Specialising as a midfielder at probably the worst possible time in the history of Port Power. Understandably lagging behind Rozee, Butters. JHF and Wines. Also a different kind of player to Drew who is our big bodied defensive midfielder and run with player.

I'm not sure if he can make it in another position and its hard to see him breaking into the midfield, but I love his approach and his loyalty to port.

He has looked good so far with another decent preseason under his belt, showing good skills and vision in the lead up games so far. I really hope he makes it

We are Port Adelaide.

Dunno, he’s improved out of sight, but still playing 1 half of football when he’s excess to needs still isn’t enough.

Needs to keep pushing
Hes very clean around the football and in tight with his hands. Makes good decisions. He definitely has a future but our inside mid stocks are overflowing. I agree he cant really play anywhere else which makes it tough.

Drew has gone to another level and is one of our best players, Wines looks to have regained that clearance form.

JHF is going to be a star, Rozee and Butters are already stars. Going to be tough for the young lad.

He must have paid some money to join that greyhound syndicate people keep banging on about because he has got a decent run at it lately.

I liked his game up to the final quarter when he looked like a deer in the headlights.

He'll get better at handling that intensity if he's given more game time.

Jackson was OK - you can’t ignore his ability to hunt for the ball and get it but his disposal lets him down as somehow a few of his foot passes were cut off by the opposition. Perhaps he telegraphs his plays a little too much?

Hate that he does everything possible to avoid taking set shots and seeks to pass it.

Mate, your teammates are behinds merchants too, you have an incredibly low bar here.
I wonder if he just doesn’t have the depth to his kicking? Anything outside of 40m he gives off. His one shot landed 10m in front of the goals.
