Ummm, hate to tell you all, but this little exercise won't really give you the Lions favourite player.

For instance, just because Akermanis might be preferred to Ashcroft, it doesn't mean that Ashcroft mightn't be preferred to another player, say, Headland.

Why don't you just ask people to give their 3,2,1 votes? Wouldn't that be a more accurate gauge?

Either way, it's all going to be wrong if CHRIS JOHNSON isn't the Lions best player!

P.S. This 'exhaustive ballot' type method is a far more reliable way of finding a winner than the 3-2-1 method you're spruiking.

No it's not!

Once a player has been 'eliminated', he can then no longer be voted for, even if he is more popular than some of the other players who managed to gain enough votes to remain in contention.

For instance, if you match two of our most popular players up against each other (eg: D.White and M.Voss), based on the reasoning that their surnames follow in corresponding, alphabetical order, you are already omitting one player who might be popular than either of the players from another combination (ie: Bradshaw and Bolton).

Either way, you'll never have a definitive answer.

Try again, Olmy. If Darryl White is outvoted by Michael Voss, how can he be the most popular player overall? He will always be behind Voss. I don't think Noel's trying to establish placegetters, just the most popular player.

Nah, you're not thinking hard enough Steve!

Even if D.White is kicked out in the first round, if doesn't mean that M.Voss would pass the second round, does it?

Just say, Voss beats White in the first round. Next round Voss is beaten, by for instance, Lynch. However, had it been White vs Lynch, D.White may have triumphed.

Therefore, you can't be 100% sure that any one of the players that make it to the next round, are indeed more popular than any one of the players that didn't.

Besides, everyone will change their minds within a week.

I'm still right though!
