Nice Thread

1987 Ross Glendenning - still remember him taking this mark with two opposition players holding each arm. Thought he was awesome!
1987 to 1989 - Laurie Keene - Cause he could kick those long torpedo goals
1990 to 1992 - Troy Ugle - Don't remember why, but I think he took some high flying marks or something
1992 to 2001 - Peter Matera - Waltzing Matera
Brief interlude in 1994 Brett Spinks - Cause he was going to be the next star....
2002 to 2007 The triumvirate of Cousins, Kerr and Judd
2008 to 2009 Brent Staker - This guy can play forward AND midfield. He'll be amazing
2010 to present - Nic Naitanui

Brett Heady.

Dunno why, just is. Maybe Peter Wilson at number two. Dunno if his name has anything to do with it.....

Peter Eric McKenzie Wilson

LOL
Great call!
No doubt its a different game nowadays,..... but .............he played the HFF like it was meant to be played.(IMO) Magnificent kick, fearless, pretty good grab.
How well do his stats line up?? xxx

Was Jako from when I can remember, 93 - when he retired, Cuz in the latter years of Jako too. Probably Darling these days, must be the #27:D

I had a Jakovich quilt cover as a kid! Kind of creepy thinking about it now, but back then it was all ok.

I had a bad run of my favourite players, either being in or out of the team, or leaving the club.
I liked Jason Ball as a kid, then he left.
I liked Chad Morrison, then he did his knee, and left.
I liked Paul Symmons, then he was delisted.
I liked Ben Cousins, then Chris Judd, then they both left.

Thankfully now my new favourite players are Shannon Hurn & Nic Nat, who have both had blessed runs with injury since they were installed as my favourites in 2010. :S

1990 - Sumich.. my first year that I remember games, full forward
1991 - 1995 - Matera, wingman days - absolute star with pace and gathers
1996 - 1997 - Beginning to get older and realised that Kemp's exquisiteness was keeping the Eagles around the mark as other icons began to slow as the competition moved on
1998 - 2001 - Cuz, the champion mid/half-forward, already gutrunning with trademark hands on hips with anguished face and fringe-part haircut whenever the ball was stopped
2002 - 2007 - Judd was a star from game 1...even in the preseason of 02 realised this manchild had afterburners
2008 - 2011 - Since no Benny or CJ .. Kerr, injury-riddled but still had the genius handballs and spurts of miracle extraction.
2012 - current - the Panther, Nic Naitanui. Hope he gets back to '12 form and he's not just a lumbering patchwork of surgery.
I'd copy and paste this for mine.

Sumich was my first fave. As a kid had his number on my jumper and used to kick the ball in the air around the front yard diving in the grass and kicking goals between bamboo and coconut tree goal posts.
I was a right footer but my left was just as good as the great man's....
Can't believe he got death threats from supporters

**** Judd. I never had a huge love for that guy. Only an imbecile would deny how ridiculously talented he was, but i never really warmed to him.

I think i never saw him as part of the team, more like someone who plays for himself, an outsider, and wasn't surprised by his defection to Carlton.

Stevan Jackson
Troy Wilson
Peter Matera
Q-Stick
Paul Simmons (used to play against him in juniors)
Jacko
Cuz
Nic Nat

Out of all of the above Cuz was my ultimate favourite. Such a legend of a player. I was gutted when he retired. Nic Nat put excitement back into footy when Cuz retired. This year I'm hoping Adamson will turn into something special. :)

Peter Wilson, this man was the ultimate team man, put his body on the line for his mates.
Bluey McKenna, was silky smooth, great leader, lead by example.
Matera enough said after his premiership winning antics.
Evans same as above.
MacIntosh, just unbeatable in his day against the best crop of full forwards the game has ever seen.
Wirra, whats not to like just a champion all round.
Hurn a greatly balanced kick the game rarely sees.
