I don't know if this has any validity or not, but what the hell.

Airline awards.

Just one example: I've flown to Africa maybe 10 times in as many years. I've done probably half the trips on Qantas/SAA and the other half on Singapore and Malaysia.

Singapore and Malaysia were by far the better experiences, even though they were longer transit times. It's a long trip too - around a 12 hour leg from Singapore/KL to Jburg.

And for the record, I like flying Garuda.

Did anyone go on the Concorde when it did the milk run?

No real surprise to see some of the Asian airlines rated so highly. They put a bigger emphasis on providing quality service, which is really what seperates most major airlines. It's pretty much just an extension of the service you normally recieve in their countries.

There is always a balance between safety and service though and there are some dodgy Asian airlines I wouldn't be too keen on flying with no matter how good their service was, ie. some of the Indonesian airlines.

Thai, Malaysia, Singapore & Cathay Pacific all have pretty good safety records though and their service puts them ahead of most other airlines.

I'd never fly qantas again if I could avoid it.

When in europe my personal fave airline was Air Berlin. I'd recommend them to anyone, were very nice planes and people with excellent legroom which is very important to me.

I've always thought there would be a market for an airline that is single class and completely no-frills, aside from highly adjustable seats and good legroom.

5'11 and you're too tall for jetstar?

i've got a tiger airways flight coming up soon and im guessing they won't be any better...
