Favourite albums of all time

Remove this Banner Ad

What I liked about music was when I found something so different to anything I'd heard before that it simply had me in awe.
That doesn't necessarily make these albums favourites but just that at the time, I couldn't stop listening to them and I couldn't conceive where the idea of such music was born from.
A few of these albums are here because I may not have heard anything prior from the artist beforehand.

Hells yes

Peak JJJ era

Was very surprised, but stoked, to see this one get a guernsey - I played on that one! That album was also finally added to streaming services last weekend:

That's awesome it's a great funky album that I still chuck on from time to time, came out when I was in high school. First 5 tracks in particular are great, but still solid to the end I think.

What did you play, I remember going to watch you guys play at the little cd shop in Eltham when I was a teenager (if you were with them then)

I was the drummer. We played the Eltham Festival a couple of times, but I don’t remember playing at a CD shop...possible that was after I left the band.

Hi BigFooty folk,

Obviously not much AFL to talk about, and I'm at a bit of a loose end, so I've decided to do a Top 20 albums video series, mainly on Twitter, but am also posting on Facebook and You Tube. It's a very personal selection, and to be honest reasonably narrow (hard rock tends to be my bread and butter) but just thought it might be a bit of fun, so see what you think. I've posted the first installment here, and am aiming to do about two per day over next couple of weeks. On the footy side of things, Finey and I are going to continue doing our Footyology Podcast every Monday morning, in which, among other stuff, we pick a year and talk about our favourite music, movies and TV from it, so check it out if you have time. Anyway, here's No.20 in the countdown, see if you agree.

Cheers,
Rohan

Hope to see some Springsteen in there ;)

Not necessarily all-time favourites but excluding greatest hits or compliation albums, these are the only albums (off the top of my head) I've listened to without skippping any songs.

Bruce Springsteen - The River
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
Craig David - Born To Do It
Nelly - Country Grammar
Bruce Springsteen - The Promise
Kayne West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Favourite Track on The River & The Promise?

Hungry Heart is great but the title track is epic with the melancholic harmonica.

The Promise is a toss up between the title track and Someday. Used to listen to it on repeat on the plane when I was working out of Thailand.

Ties That Bind for me.

Title track and Save My Love from The Promise.

Are you a big Springsteen fan?

I'm currently working on my top 50 list while I have some time during the lockdown.

I really enjoy David Bowie but he doesn't have an album that I really connected with and played heaps to make the list.
