Psychos and Hard Ons were pretty cool I recall, and I always enjoyed the rifles...

Live wise the Psychotic Turnbuckles were always a heap of fun too...never missed a chance to get lagered up and catch them

Did Turnbuckles do that song 'wild scenes in Alberqurqy(?)' I think that I saw them one night at the Prince of Wales with Splatterheads

BTW-I think that for all you sad old punks(and I am one of them) X are doing a reunion gig soon-I dont know where one of my friends told me:p

Favourite Aussie Bands:

The Church - Great Canberra Band

The Falling Joys - The Greatest Canberra Band

The Clouds - All-time Favourite Aussie Band.

Others I've liked include Radio Birdman, The Divinyls, Stella One Eleven, 28 Days, TISM, Midnight Oil, Def FX, The Hummingbirds (another Canberra Band), Henry's Anger (Canberra Again) and The Angels.

you are correct localyokel, the Buckles did do Alberquerque...
Saw em a few times at the POW and the Venue (remember that place!!!!)

When we were kids(a long time ago) The POW, The Seaview Ballroom and The Venue would all have free bands on thursday night. The bands would be staggered at different times and we cvould stagger from one place to the other and see them all.

I can remember the Venue particularly well. Saw Nick Cave and Roolins and The Saints and many, many others. The last night was pretty sad. I had a piece of velvet wallaper that I ripped of the wall nailed to the wall in a house I lived in for ages.

I also found a 'Venue band list' that had been signed by all the Bad Seeds in amongst my filing cabinet the other day. Forgot that I had it. Must have been from '89. I had a friend that worked there and he used to get me backsatge for all the shows.

God I missed that place(sighs)

Localyokel,

You are a lucky bastard to have been to those venues. Obviously the prince is still thriving but what about the others.

The Venue - it was on King St wasn't it ?
The Seaview Ballroom - is that the George Winebar in St. Kilda

I can vividly remember the first time I went to the POW. Went to see TISM circa 93-94. Walk in and heat nearly suffocates you. look on stage to see bass player from the fireballs nude on top his double bass going manic. It was an unbelievable sight. Hooked this (then) teenager for life. Melbourne remains one of the best places for live music its because of these joints like POW, espy, Punters etc.

LONG LIVE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok if you'se reckon that Leaving Home is a bad, bad, oh so bad song ... then I might have to admit that I have only heard the worst, worst, oh so worst Jebediah song, and might need to give them a go.

But if youse reckon that Leaving Home is a decent song, or a good song, then ... err, I won't bother, thank you very much! :D

But for WA bands, Eurogliders were pretty good.

if you think leaving home is a bad song you have problems, it's no where near their best song wich i think is harpoon, download some of the ones i listed i'm sure you'll like at least a few their style varies alot from song to song

re jebediah..

i've only heard leaving home, benedict, millitary strongmen..
mobbs & devo... i agree with yas... :P shyte...

but will download the others and give it a listen....

i dont listen to much aust music... but if i had to choose 1... i'd take regurgitator easilyyy...~~~

I did not know that Jerome. :)
Victoria in August. :D

-------------

I have to say that I reckon Jebediah are pathetic, whiney b-graders. Hey Dude, trying singing through your mouth instead of your nose!

the best jebediah songs in my opinion are harpoon, benedict and possibly feet touch the ground. they have other strong songs like teflon, animal etc. but you cant beat harpoon, that song is just amazing.

There arent many well known aussie metal bands at all really, which is dissapointing. The most 'famous' one would be Segression. They kick arse but the are is still lacking. Others inclue Frankenbock, Dreadnaught, BloodDuster, Day Of Contempt, Truth Corroded, Cyrogenic, Embodiment, Mark Of Cain and most of them are mainly local adelaide bands!!!
