I went to a "Beer Apprecation Course" over the weekend and I had some Duvel beer. It's a Belgium beer and it's about 7.5% alcohol and for that percentage it was one of the most smoothest beers I've had.

Has anybody tried the beers from Unibroue in Quebec? They are trappist style and really intresting. La Fin Du Monde is a 9% Golden Ale and the fermentation method gives it almost a champagne-style fizz. It was very good but I preffered the Maudite which is a dark beer that will apparently age like a port if you leave it for years.

Ja, pretty strong stuff. What about the Trois Pistoles?

Another one I had a little while ago was a dark ale from Healesville called White Rabbit. It's on tap at Y&J's an goes down well. I don't live too far away from the brewery so might have to check it out one day.

Another local one from the Yarra Valley is the Coldstream Brewery. They have a nice range of different styles.

Worked 12 hours straight the other day in 42 degree heat. When i got home i poured an ice cold Coopers Pale into a frosty glass, didnt last more than a minute.

Easily the best beer i have ever had in my life. Suffice to say the other five after that weren't as good as the first, but pretty dam good.

I'm working in a pub in England and we sell this stuff. I think it tastes alot like Hoegaarden (sp?) with a slight fruity taste. Also think it is about 8 or more percent which considering its relatively light taste is amazing. Duvel also has a lighter version called Vedett which is also quite nice.

We also sell Sagres on tap which has become my favourite of late.

Tooheys Extra Drys and Platinums are in my favour lately.

I bought an 8 pack of the Toohey's Dry platinum recently as I'd drunk some on a footy trip when I was pissed (no doubt lured by the 6.5% alcohol) and thought it wasn't too bad. Big mistake. Easily the worst beer I've ever drunk. It was disgustingly sweet.

My favourite recently would be the Japanese beer, Sapporo.

Did you have Sapporo out of the big 660ml cans or out of the stubby? I've only tried it out of the stubby and thought it was too dry for my liking though that is definately the style of Japanese beers. Apparently out of the big cans it is a lot better though so I must give it a shot but I am worried if I don't like it then I have a whole can to have after that first sip haha.

P.S Kirin is rich mans Carlton Cold. Easily the worst of the Japanese beers imo.

Been drinking a lot of Coopers Sparkling and Newcastle Brown Ale. Also quite a bit of Grand Ridge Gippsland Gold.

Greatly enjoyed a 6 pack of Jamieson Beast Indian Pale Ale.

The big Sapporo cans usually taste a bit better than the stubbies because they are Japanese. The stubbies are are usually brewed in Canada. I still like the stuff brewed in Ontario but the proper Japanese stuff is a little nicer.

The cans are all, to my knowledge, brewed in Canada.

Some bottles are brewed in Canada, some in Japan. Ones from Dan Murphy's are Canadian, smaller bottleshops are more likely to have ones from Japan.

Have had both, and not a terrific beer in my opinion, and definitely overpriced. Goes alright with sushi, but then again, so does VB Raw.

Its actually around the other way lol.

Is Carling Extra Cold different to the normal Carling? If not it is literally the worst beer I've ever tried in my life.

Red Angus pilsener is a very interesting pilsener. Huge ammounts of hops give it an odd bitterness. Dan Murphy's have it for around $15 so it's worth trying
