Stuff I have enjoyed lately:
- Holgate Hopinator Double IPA
- William's Pale Ale
- Wells Banana Bread Beer
Epic pale ale - probably my favourite pale all of all time but at $13 a bottle its hardly an everyday (or even month!) beer.
Absolutely. These guys price themselves out of every being able to turn over enough stock to make a profit. At $8 for a 500ml, I'd buy it regularly and i know a few other people who would too. Anything above $10 for a 500 ml is really getting quite steep, particularly for a new brewery making a standard APA. I know hops can be pricey, but seriously!NZ beer isn't it? Young kiwi bloke brewing it, only a young player. Met him at beer and wine expo in Melbourne and tried his beers. Pretty good actually. Cost is a turn off.

Not sure where to get it in Australia but I enjoyed a few Schneider Weisse Hefeweizen's over the summer. Highly recommended if you're in the mood for a wheat beer.
Um lol. When value for money is the thing in mind, Oettinger is right up there!
Is a very nice beer and at $30 a carton you cannot get better.
Um lol.
Oettinger is bollocks.

There's a reason you can't find many beers under $35 a case. He's talking about value for money. Name a better beer for under $35 a carton.

Oettinger would be shit value at $5 a case.
I don't drink those beers you mentioned, nor have I ever spent more than $50 for a slab. So stop pretending you know me. I don't rate Oettinger. Get over it.To be honest, it's not much worse than a lot of more expensive Euro lagers (ie. Heineken, Becks, Carlsberg). On beeradvocate.com (which I consider a fairly reliable beer rating website - full of beer-snobs like you, too), they all average a score of C, except for Carlsberg which is a C+. When you consider that all these other beers go for around $45 a carton and Oettinger is only $30, I think he/she was quite justified in claiming it to be a good value beer.
I wouldn't be caught dead buying Tooheys Extra Dry, Hahn Super Dry, West End Draught, VB, etc. I'd happily take Oettinger over these beers, as I prefer the flavour of German lager over Aussie pub lagers. It's basically just a German equivalent of our own pub beers - a cheap beer for the masses. It doesn't make it a great beer by any means, but it serves it's purpose to those who buy it. No one is forcing you to drink it, and some poeple actually enjoy it. Not everyone can afford $80 cartons of boutique ale. Get off your high horse, it's only beer.
