Agree. Pretty much all of the under licence European beers (Becks, Heineken, etc) are never quite like the real stuff. They claim it tastes the same, but it doesn't.

I've had Asahi from Canada before ... Or it might've been Sapporo.

Picked up some Red Hill Imperial Stout a couple of days ago. Simply fantastic.

I just poured three bottles of LCPA into a large plastic bottle which is now sitting in my freezer. Tomorrow I'll be pouring the alcohol off. Freeze-distillation ftw. I will report the results tomorrow.

Went nuts. A number of Belgian beers and a few others and Adam threw in a Hop Rod Rye for me to try.

Just had a Holgate Double Trouble Abbey Ale after dessert.

Dangerously drinkable at 8% ... toffee flavours with a subtle hoppiness.

Lord Nelson Brewery Three Sheets Ale = winner. Nice ale, plenty of hoppy goodness.

Take a trip to Sydney and have a few out of the tap, you won't regret it

was up in cairns for the past week.

stumbled upon a micro brewery called the blue sky brewery and bar.

absolutely hooked on their blue sky pilsener. one of the nicest beers i've ever had.

If anybody is around this area there is a local brewery from Squamish called Howe Sound. They have a range of different styles and all that I have had so far have been quality. Just drinking their 'Brilliant Lager' now.

Just tried William's Organic Pale Ale. It's meant to be an APA, but there's nothing ale-ish about it. Tastes like VB, but with greater aroma and much less crap. Basically, what VB would taste like if it was a decent beer.

For the last 10 years I've been avoiding VB, and now I find out that the reason I don't like it is because I've only tried the cans. Going down to the bottle shop tomorrow to buy a pack of the bottles. Thanks ATCHAWK

PS. Do you recommend a stubbie or a long neck? Does the long neck taste nicer?

Guiness Dark Lager selling at $25 for two six packs at the local bottle-o tonight. Was told it is on trial in just four countries before Guiness decides whether of not it is worthy of continuing. Hope in hell it stays.

Tried an Oettinger Pils last night after seeing it in so many places. Watery and not very bitter at all, so the "pilsner" bit confused me a bit. I can see why it was so cheap...

Going to have a few Weihenstephaner's tonight. Breaks the bank but they are delicious.

I like Pale Ales generally - Coopers & L.Creatures for the mainstream ones, will usually give this a go at most breweries before their other beers

L.Creatures Bright Ale is great IMO

Don't mind a bit of wifebeater if you can find the cartons with handles

Weihenstephaners are great and (unfortunately for some) becoming regulars on tap at pubs

Had some rippers in USA - something called Corona? nah it was Blue Moon I thinks, haven't found it here but haven't looked hard either

You have listed some really good beers, I would say you have pretty decent taste... I hope you're joking about the West End though.


I'm enjoying a 2009 Coopers Vintage at the moment. A fantastic drop. It's up there with the best beers I've ever had, and I'm not just saying that because it's from my city - it really is a superb beer in its own right.

Drinking a Bridge Road Brewers Beechworth PA, really nice.

So easy to drink, light on bitterness, hoppy & great nose, fruity too.

Also had the Little Creatures single batch oatmeal stout.

I like it.

Seen a few mentions of Sierra Nevada on here. Dan's now stocking (advertising at least) the Kellerweis, Pale Ale and Torpedo IPA at the reasonable price of $20,$20 & $23 a 6 pack. Will be looking to sample some this weekend.

Kellerweiss isn't worth it. The others are very good for their price.
