Whats everyones favourite comedy show and movie??

I got a couple of favourite shows. Anything with John Cleese in it basically. Monty Python, Faulty Towers etc etc

THere is a classic show on SBS called 'The Fast Show' they show a series once a year - and its the funniest bunch of shows you are ever likely to see.

Whos line is it anyway? is a great show as well - bloody hilarious!

My favourite comedy movie - i dont think i have one...Snatch is cool...Something ABout Mary is great as well.

TV Shows - Bottom, The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Alexei Sayle Show, Blackadder (2nd and 3rd series mainly), Newsradio used to be good, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Time Gentlemen Please.

Movies - anything Monty Python, Kentucky Fried Movie, some Cheech & Chong stuff, not many others really... not much of a movie watcher.

Cripes... Blackadder, the Simpsons, Seinfeld, The Fast Show (on occasians), The Late Show (what a pissa), Faulty Towers, Get Smart.... can't think of any more at the moment.

Best funny movie : Austin Powers (yeah baby!)

TV Shows - The Simpsons, Fawlty Towers, Seinfeld, The Late Show, The Dream, The Panel and of course Da Ali G Show.

Movies - Without doubt by a country mile - The Naked Gun series!! "Nice beaver" "Thanks, I just had it stuffed!" Honourable mentions to Austin Powers and American Pie

Apparently last night's Ali G was the final episode, is that true? :(

TV Shows : The Simpsons, The Micaleff Pogram, Seinfeld, The Late Show, Good News Week, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, Good Night Sweetheart, The Young One, Frontline

Movies - hmmmm dunno really, I find most movie comedies pretty lame actually.

Pearl Harbour had me in stitches but I don't think it was meant to be a comedy ! ;) :D

Saw a little B-Grade movie not so long ago called "Office Space" about the mildly insane work conditions modern office workers have to endure.

Only a silly little film but very funny and very true !

Spinal Tap still does it for me after all these years

cheers

The Micaleff Program is funny. Also like Men Behaving Badly (uk version only), Seinfeld, Simpsons, Blackadder, The Young Ones, Yes Minister, Fawlty Towers. Still get a laugh out of Get Smart which is a bit pathetic.

The Late Show was one of the funniest Australian shows ever produced. Also loved 'Not the Nine O'Clock News' with Griff Rhys Jones, Rowan Atkinson, Pamela Stevenson (I think) and Mel Smith.

Can't think on any really funny movies though other than the classics like the Monty Python ones.

Apart some that have already been mentioned:

TV:

Dad's Army: Simply the funniest situation-comedy ever. Most good sit-coms have 2-3 funny characters - Dad's Army has at least twice that: Corporal Jones ("Don't Panic!"), Pike, Warden Hodges ("Put that light out!"), Frazer ("We're doomed!") and my favourite Captain Mainwaring ("you stupid boy!") played by the brilliant Arthur Lowe - to name but a few.

Dave Allen at Large: Perhaps the best joke-teller ever. Can make even an unfunny joke hilarious just with his delivery.

Film:

Top Secret: (and everything else by the Zucker team)

I'm gonna git you sucker: Never heard of it? Ask your video store because they will have a copy for 'people in the kno'

Keeping up Appearances, Yes Minister, Yes Prime Minister, Randall & Hopkirk Deceased, Hogan's Heroes, Monty Python and all parts thereof

"A Fish Called Wanda" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"

Movies:
Caddyshack (best comedy ever)
Easy Money
Back to School
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Stork
Backdraft (not meant to be funny, but it looked like a beer commercial to me)
All Zucker Bros. films
Marx Bros. movies

TV:
Simpsons
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Kingswood Country (early episodes)
Paul Hogan Shows
Benny Hill (especially when I'm p!ssed)
Talking footy
Larry Sanders show
Family Guy

There's a few off the top of my head.

Dads Army by a country mile. TT hit it in one.
Brilliant scripts wonderfully performed by comic actors who were skilled at their craft.
In one episode called the captains car they extract a solid ten minutes of laughs simply getting in and out of a car. For milking every laugh out of a prop you wont see anything better. These guys are seriously funny.:D

Seinfeld , especially series 4, the most inspired run of sitcoms epsiodes ever - Bubble Boy, The Contest, Gay episode (not that there's anything wrong with that), the Breasts, the Airport, the Virgin, the smelly car, Elaine's Nipple, George's IQ test, Mulva, the Pilot.

Blackadder, Larry Sanders, Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Late Show, Frontline, Cheers, Frazier

If you ever get the chance to see "Knowing me Knowing You with Alan Partridge" on Foxtel, watch it. It is an absolute pisser.

PS On Dad's Army I recently read a classic line from that show, when Pike was being interrogated by the Germans.

German captain, "What is your name, Soldier"
Mainwaring, "Don't tell him, Pike"

Nick the Pie Man will agree with me on this one (but QT wont... ;) )
but Clifford would have to be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It's got Martin Short in it and it's highly recommended!

The soccer fans out there might remember this show, it was on SBS as a prelude to the soccer during World Cup '98. The show was called 'Fantasy World Cup' and hosted by english comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner. It basically showed the funny side of the world cup, with send-ups of the greatest moments in soccer and special guests each episode. You had to be a big soccer fan to really be amused by it, but to me it was the funniest sports/comedy program i've ever seen. Luckily i managed to get half the episodes on tape.

For TV:
The Simpsons, The Drew Carey Show, Micaleff Programm, Backburner.
And one they had on after the Friday night footy until the cricket started, it was called "Time Gentleman Please" it's hillarious.

They showed it once on channel 7, unfortunatley I don't have pay tv, but I do remember that 1 show and his gags. It was the best television I've seen ever on channel 7.

Some small clips of there you can download as well.

I've still got a few episodes on tape of that 3 years down the track.

Baddiel and Skinner did a chat show last year sometime. It was on SBS, and they just sat on a couch telling jokes etc. It was rather good, can't remember the name of it though.

Agreed, similar to The Dream it was almost bigger than the World Cup itself. Kicking myself didn't tape any of it; Blues2001 and I were obsessed with it at the time.
