Ben Cousins, I remember watching his East Freo game against South, where he slipped over, bounced back up and kicked the goal. Followed him through it all, though I couldn't really watch him at Richmond. I am always bemused when people talk about Peter Matera being higher up our best of all time. Peter was regularly tagged out of it, so much so that he was moved to half back to free him. Cousins, like Judd, couldn't be tagged. He just was constantly moving, so the tagger couldn't block him off the ball. Inside and out, had the greatest partnership with Gardiner in 2003 I think, never seen two players work so perfectly together in the ruck before or since. The only ray of light really in 2000 and 2001, though Kerr was pretty amazing in his first season. Just great to watch on the field, a train wreck off it.

I find it impossible to compare players from different era's and different positions. We all have our favourites for different reasons.
To name a few, in no particular order, Brett Heady, Peter Matera, Ashley McIntosh, Tony Evans,
Chris Mainwaring and of course, John Worsfold who basically singlehandedly won our club the respect we needed as we were regarded as pussys on the East Coast. Of the more modern player, My favourite was Daniel Kerr, sublime ! Ben Cousins - obviously, but the drug issue really sours his career and I cant get over the suspicion that his much admired "gut running" was somehow enhanced.
Luke Shuey, great skills and is a bull, I love the way he plays and wish a few of the younger boys had his determination .

Cuz was the heart and soul of the team and led by example so often (perhaps a little TOO often ). Favourite player, but perhaps not favourite person.

Johnny Worsfold was my favourite as a kid. I even visited him at his pharmacy to get his autograph.
Judd and Cousins broke my heart which rules them out.
Peter Matera was sublime.
Nic Naitanui for my all time favourite.

Interesting to see a few Tony Evans nominations. He was a bit before my time, what made him so popular? He seems like a relatively unmemorable player apart from a few handy GFs

He was an A Grade finals player, stood up when it counted most. Pretty consistent during home and away matches. Reminds me a little of Xellis when he was with Hawthorn (just with less injuries).

Purely for how I felt as a kid growing up, Juddy will always have a special place in my heart. Always love Cuz too.

Shuey will defs be up there at the end of his career. Out of the current kids I got a lot of love for Barrass and a lot of faith in Partington. (Purely for the #PartiTime tags I can drop in game threads when he becomes a star).

So many to pick from but I will have to go for Cousins, as a young eagles supporter how could you not grow up to love him, In those dark Ken Judge days he was the only one that gave me hope, And every year he would always improve. He could win his own ball, break away from opposition/packs, amazing goal sense and not only did he have a massive tank he could gut run, he would litterly push himself so hard untill he physically couldn't go anymore. And he also bled Blue and Gold. If it wasn't for all the off field shit He would have easily played 250 games plus for n most likely won another one or 2 B&F n would be instantly inducted into the afl hall of fame soon as he is eligible
