Who's your favourite forgotten man who's pulled on the boots for our club?

They can be flash in the pan, a dead set hack or a loyal servant who just doesn't rate a mention these days.

I'll throw up some names -

Andy Lockyer
Dean Irving
Paul Symmons
Ryan Turnball
Michael Collica
Ben Cousins (before anyone else jumps in for that 'hee-haw')
Trent Carroll
Laurie Bellotti
'The Toul' (my favourite)
Nick 'Lesser known Eagle to be sacked for Drugs' Stone(d)
Ilija Grgic
Shane Bond
Callum Chambers
Andrew Donnelly
David 'Full Forward??' Haynes
Daniel Metropolis
Troy Ugle
Robbie West
Richard Taylor

Anyone else harbouring fond memories of any other almost blue and gold heroes?

On topic. I always liked Andrew Macnish for some reason.

I'm not sure if he meets your criteria but Fatty Lamb would just about be my all time favourite.

Brett Spinks - was kicking the ball 60m while Lynchy and Bunga were still in short pants.

Ian Downsborough

Phil Narkle

Peter Melesso - only remember him for one thing, getting suspended for stepping on Earl Spalding's face:D

Fatty Lamb most older supporters remember instantly!

Macnish is a good one, I thought he went alright too.

FiveStrings - Spinks is an excellent one. Who needs Suma aye? We've got SPINKS.

Mick Malthouse once described trading Ian Downsborough as the hardest decision he's made in football, Mick also declared the Pies beating Freo a couple of weeks back as his most satisfying victory ever. So take that how you will.

Narkle was a great player, shame he didn't play more for the Eagles.

Melesso beat cancer and took the 1989 mark of the year! - but yeah, his name should be on his locker for stomping on The Earl of Spalding.

Scott Cummings - probably my favourite past Eagle along with Little Phil. Had a brilliant first year with us, 1999 (kicked 95 goals and won the Coleman), and an excellent first half of 2000, then injuries struck him and he only played 1 game in the second half of the season. Struggled in 2001 and was eventually dropped and delisted at the end of the year.

Matthew's Clape and Connell. Here one day, guns elsewhere the next, gone from the face of the Earth soon after.

Big Troy Wilson and bigger Scott Cummings. One couldn't be bothered kicking bags in the WAFL and went back to racing speedcars, the other couldn't be bothered moving and went back to the playstation.

Neil Marshall? Where did he go? Super-dud Kane Munro? Was ok for Swan Districts for a while...

Hahaha. Good get. :thumbsu:

It did take a while for the penny to drop with me though.:o

I'll add Murray Wrensted to the list. Could have been one of the all time greats but never seemed to get over missing that goal at the end of the '89 elimination final. That and I believe he may have been a bit of a drinker too?

Merenda was a gun. Met him a few times when he came to the school to speak as a past student.

See Turnball all the time at the local park walking his dog, great guy. Always up for a chat about anything, especially footy.

I remember being really angry when Haynes asked for a trade, looking back was probably a good move.

Craig Turley. Was superb for us before he decided to stop playing footy.

Was also a fan of Gehrig when he played for us, probably one of the few Weagle fans who feel that way.

Also Troy Wilson

Speaking of troy ugle, i umpired him on saturday polled 3 votes in the amatuers league.

I always thought David Haynes had what it took.... shame he wasn't about 3 inches taller and had about 3 inches less around the guts (although with three inches under his feet he might've looked a bit more in proportion).

Ashley Sampi.

Nah, I'll go Jason Heatley, just for the fact that for years nobody could work out why he wasn't getting a game. Or John Gastev, who used to get belted black and blue every week and then moved to the Brisbane Bears for a grand total of about 8 wins in 6 or 7 seasons.

One player I never liked was David Hynes. Not sure why, could have been the dumbarsed look that was fixed on this face, as well as that ridiculous goatee he sported when he came across from south australia.

Anyone remember former captains Murray Rance and Steve Malaxos?!!

In the Round 22 match of the 1987 VFL season, Malaxos collected an outstanding 48 possessions in a game - a total which still stands as a West Coast club record to this day.

Andrew Donnelly..

Few questions.. what was the drug scandal surrounding Nick Stone?????

and..

Why did Jason Heatley never get a game, I remmeber being in Grade 6 or 7 in Primary school and even then I couldnt figure out why not...

You'll have to ask Mick Malthouse.

I doubt anybody else knows the answer. I sure as hell don't.

Sierakowski ,I saw him at the last eagles game.

Also such names as Crabb and Fewster, Paul "gingervitus" symmnons. Ahh the memories.

Always been a big fan of full forwards for some reason.

Darren Bennett was my absolute favourite player in the first year, and I was a big fan of Troy Wilson and Scott Cummings when they were cult favourites.

Was real glad when we finally got Paul Harding and was happy to see him part of a flag, still remember his WAFL battles with Laurie Keene and Stephen Michael fondly.

I thought he was fantastic, especially in 03, dissapointed me hugely that we traded him. I hoped so much that we would pick him up again when he was delisted from geelong. Brisbane were tossing up wether to pick him or that sydney fella and they chose the latter.

Troy Wilson was awesome too, i mean come on, i dont think hardly any eagles supporters could say otherwise.
