What's your favourite GAZZA moment? It can be Jnr and Snr as well!

Mine?

Ablett Snr: 14.7 in Round 6, 1993 against Essendon is hard to beat. My dad has always told me I was there and he said he told me during the game " Make sure you remember this!" Unfortunately, I don't. I was only 4! From one I can remember, was Gazz against Essendon in 1995. He snapped a fantastic goal from the boundary and I remember gazza on the ground, waving his arms in jubilation as we won by 12 points.

Ablett Jnr: His first goal, Round 3 against the Kangaroos in 2002. He gathered the ball and calmly slotted it from 50 on a tight angle. The reaction was great but I won't forget the roar of the crowd!

One of my favourite Ablett moments was also that game in Round 11 1995 against Essendon. We were 6 goals down at half time and looked gone but a stirring comeback in the 3rd quarter put the game on a knife edge until the great man kicked the first 4 goals of the last quarter, all on James Hird, who was hopelessly outclassed. The highlight being that 30m snap on his left foot from the boundary line in the Southern Stand pocket at the Punt Road end.

There was 75,000+ at the game that day and the atmosphere in that last quarter was electric, generated by one man wearing number 5.

We could spend all day talking about his on-field deeds.

Who could forget his goal of the year in 89 against Collingwood? Sandy Roberts summed it up beautifully - "Here is the magician at work... he shoots towards goal.... what more can you say?"

How about his 89 finals series? That performance at Waverley was one of the best in a finals series. I was only 7 at the time and can't remember anything from it, but I've seen the highlights and I just shake my head in awe at his mercurial efforts that day. Then the 9 goals the following week in the GF was just as good, unfortunately we didn't get the result, but I can be satisfied that I was lucky enough to have seen the greatest player to play the game (IMO) live and at his peak.

A great pack mark by Gary senior in between two Essendon defenders (Derek Kickett was one but can't remember the other) One of the strongest pack marks I have ever seen. Both defenders tried to spoil but once Gaz locked those vice like hands - the ball was going nowhere

My greatest Gazza moment was between 1984 & 1997 - a brilliant career. The greatest player to have played our great game - bar none!

My memory is an one that is argued by many as not a mark, but it was paid so it doesnt matter.
1994 ( I think) vs Collingwood MCG. Got away to a big lead early only to have it pegged back to a couple of goals mid 4th Q. I think it was Mensch kicked it high to the goalsquare then everything went into slow motion as Gaz sat on Perts shoulders. It was as if time stood still as we all jumped to our feet, he seemed to sit there for ages.
I think the pies stopped after that as if they felt they had no right to win.

can i pick only one. gee what a tough call, i reckon the time i was at a local gym in geelong and i was in the change room and in walked gazza, he proceeded to initiate a conversation with me for a few minutes (we were not nude so no comments please) it was a highlight of my life, he is my all time idol and i had a one on one conversation with him, not many people can say that about their idol. There are to many footy moments to mention.

mine was in '95 against CArlton when gazza ran out of bounds deep in the forward pocket. he kept the ball in with his outstretched hand and then snapped a goal from the pocket. BEST MOMENT EVER!
WAT A FRIEK!

he used to play for Myrtle ford in the O&M League. my dad played for north albury. in a grand final north's full back kicked out from a behind with 10 seconds to go. he was instructed not to kick it near ablett. he pounded the ball 70 metres out (including some bounces). it went straight to Ablett and he got it and kicked straight away. he kicked a torpedo goal from 80 metres out! that would have been magnificant

My fave Gazza moments would have to be that goal at Waverly in the 89 prelim and the goal from the throw in in the 89 grand final, that mark against Collingwood ( i had the perfct view of it behind the point post 3rd row from the fence) and the 14 goals 9 he scored against Richmond in 89 as well

Senior:- 89 Grand Final Norm Smith Medal - I knew he was going to get it but when they read out his name it was an emotionally day but sensational moment

Junior:- First goal VS Kangaroos at the Dome, I sat on Level 3 and nearly cried I was that excited for him. My hero, A Cat Star.

 I wonder what the great man himself is doing at the moment, my guess is kicking the footy on his farm.
