Hi Guys, just thought I would give everyone a chance to list out there sentimental faves, obviously we've all loved the bChamps like Sunline, Might and Power, Saintly, The Big O etc but just try list the horses you back every start or close to or have a special spot in your heart.

I'll get the ball rolling :

Oliver Twist : One of Mayfield-Smiths best, made an absolute killing when it won the Mackinnon a couple of years ago.

Le Zagletta : The Big Grey with the Big Heart from the Freedman stable, never ran a bad race gave you 100% each start.

Maltese Beauty : Northener who used to get out and lead by ridiculous margins and sometimes held on.

Spadanza : Promising Three year old who is trained by the same guy who has my Brothers horse.

Playstation : Came home with a rocket up its arse, broke my heart and bank balance with its last couple of Preps though.

True Identity: Wonderful old horse, was fantastic for Mark Bairstow.

Vonanne:A friend owned her and her little sister Ciao Baby. Both were grand campaigners for Bruce Purcell, also gave us many a good day at the Races.

Merlin's Law:Ugly, slow grey gelding trained at Cranbourne.
He's not a horse to back every start, but i am a long way in front on him because i only back him in races on big tracks.

Kenconcarne: Got onto this grey when the world's best jockey, Stathi Katsidis got the ride early on in its career.

I'm not a follower of horses as such. But I do have my favourites:

Sydeston - I feel one of the more underrated gallopers of his time. Won the Caulfield Stakes and Caulfield Cup as a 5YO, and only got nudged by a head by Better Loosen Up in the Cox Plate a week later. Of course, BLU beat home a handy field in Japan at his next start.

Redding - The first of my series of Victoria Derby victories. Won the big one at around 10-1, and then went missing. Returned the next spring, won the Turnbull on protest and there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that he should have won the 1994 Cox Plate. Lost at least a length around the home turn and went under by a head.

Octagonal - I'm not usually taken by juveniles, especially those from the "big" stables, but even as a 2YO I loved this bloke. Also had a big soft spot for Strategic, whose effort to win the Lightning was at least the equal of Testa Rossa's a few years later.

I'm starting to follow him now too, his brother Michael is a sensational Boxer, went to the Olympics in '2000 and is now 4-0(3KO's) as a Pro.

Saw Michael on the Friday Night Fights on Foxtel.

I've lost a little bit of interest in the racing lately.

The last meeting i've been too was at Sandown the weekend of the Geelong-Carlton match. Being interstate and legally not allowed to bet hasn't helped either.

Here's a couple of my favourites; mind you only because they won me money :)

Lolita Star - I haven't seen it go around for a while but i used to always chuck money at the thing. Never really disappointed either, the highlight was a victory at around 16-1.

Show a Heart - Always backed the thing, never really delivered, pretty much ran a place every time though.

Testa Rossa - Well what can u say? a champion horse, makes it all the better after watching it come from last at the bend to win at 18-1 when noone gave it a chance (60 + kg, outside barrier, Emirate Stakes).

Umrum - Probably my favourite horse, always ran with long odds and definitely worth a few dollars.

Bionic Bess - Tough mare, my favourite horse. Her biggest win was the VATC Tristarc Stakes (Gr 3), she also came second in the Coolmore Classic. I love an honest horse, and she rarely let me down.

Bonanova - Class mare, i didn't always back her, but when i did she usually came through.

Penghulu - I backed the grey in the Toorak in 1997, he saluted and our friendship got stronger from there! He didn't win all that often, but i had him worked out. ;)

Yammer - He won the first six races of his career, and he's turned himself into a very smart galloper. If anything he's been a little dissapointing, but he's a tiny horse and he finds it tough in the WFA races.

Oh you're the one :D

Did you follow him over to Perth?

Sydeston kick started my interest in racing. I picked him to win the 1990 Caulfield Cup, which he did easily and followed him in everything he raced in for the rest of his career.
He was no doubt underrated. He won over $3 million, won many group 1's and was placed twice in a Cox Plate.

Pretty Much.

It was the same old Penghulu, he'd win at Ascot in track record time then he'd run tailed off at Northam.

An absolute cat :p

I'm a sucker for a big stayer...

Super Impose , Doriemus. I remember picking them for the cup 3 weeks out and didn't care if they were favourite or not. Gotta respect any horse that carries a big weight and can still be a threat comming last at the 1000m mark.

This is easy.
Best horse to follow this & last year has been the B J Mclachlan trained RAW INSTINCT Has won half his starts, 1st & 2nd up specialist.
Always starts at generous odds. Won 1st up on Aug 18th @ 12s, then won 2nd up at 8s the next week. Again won 1st & 2nd up March 02 at good odds.
Another I follow up there when over 20s is MALTESE BEAUTY. Won 2 starts ago at 50s
Talking years ago NICHOLAS JOHN, won 6 in a row at one stage.(named my first born after him)
PLEACH, won 7 in a row before being sold to America.
Was on both of them nearly every start from them being 3yos.

Dane Ripper. I got told by a family friend that it will be a star, got told 2 weeks before the Caufield in 97 to put $50 on it at 33/1 my Dad went nuts but the day it won he was at lawn bowls and I ran from the tennis courts showing off my prized ticket, I think a few wrong byasses balls would of went down the green that moment, I have the ticket in a frame next above my TV. I regret it now because I would of lost twice that money in the last six years. Another horse Jeune in 94, we had a sweep at our local hotel and the night before I bought a few $2 ones and a $20 one, out of sheer bad luck I got this roughy in three of my four tickets, I threw a tantrum and chucked them at my Mum and said she could have them, I was in high school that day and our principal put the cup on the PA, well Jeune won and I was so excited I got off the school bus, ran to the Pub and read the sweeps board and it had my Mums name on it, I was trying to tell everyone they were my tickets but Mum claimed them and tried to say that they weren't mine but Mum being Mum gave me the money, :)

Never Undercharge - because it was good to me.

Super Impose - didn't always back it, but it was a great horse.

Vo Rogue - so damn exciting when it took on the field so early and says catch me if you can.

I remember a trotter Maori's Idol (?) that won a stack of races consecutively that everyone followed at the time.

Was lucky enough to see Maori`s Idols first start at Globe Derby.
Was quoted at 10s in the paper, opened at evens.
Missed the start 30m & went around them & won by 20.

I gave him a chance, had a few on Testa Rossa that day...great win, great ride by Paddy Payne too.
Other favourites i've had over the years-
Doriemus: Champion stayer, another 10 metres and he would've won 2 Melbourne Cups...still have my ticket from his last race in the Sydney Cup.
Rough Habit: Remember him coming within inches of winning the Cox Plate, at odds of over 60-1. The fact that i was on the winner Solvit (15-1) as well softened the blow, but old Rough was probably my number one horse.
Naturalism: Ran a heap of big races in his day, have followed his protege Nautilism with interest too.
Markham: Follow all of Cliff Brown's horses, and this was probably his first Group horse. Placed in a Melbourne Cup, was a true stayer.
Charismatic: American horse. Had my first and only bet on the Kentucky derby one year, after spending a few hours on the net finding out all the form I could on the race. Decided on this horse, pleasantly found it to be showing $35 with the TAB. The rest is history...
A few of my other favourites have been Super Impose, Mahogany, Octagonal, Schillaci.
