In a season where we won only five games, obviously there aren't going to be that many.
But here's what I came up with:
1) Round 4: Fremantle: 4th Quarter.
Scores where level at three quarter time and Freo were coming at us hard. But then the cream rose to the top and our two young champs in Cousins and Gardiner single headedly won us the match.
Gardiner was great in the ruck, but also pushed forward and kicked 3 crucial last quarter goals.
Cuzz must have cleared the ball from the centre 6-7 times in that last quarter.
2) Round 3: StKilda: 4th Quarter.
The Eagles' had lead all day, but StKilda where starting to get a run-on. Then a fantastic ruck-tap from Gardiner was swooped upon by Mark Merenda, he paddled the ball along the boundary line, avoided several attempted tackles and finally snapped a beautiful goal using the old 'banana kick'. It sealed the game for the Eagles, won Merenda the 'Goal of the year' and made me spill my beer.
3) Round 13: Melbourne: 4th Quarter.
The Eagles' had just kicked a burst of goals and where putting a fair margin between the two teams. Richard Taylor burst from the midfield and kicked it over Fido's head, the Melbourne defender gathered the ball and looked set to run the ball out of defence. But Phil had different ideas, like lightning he sprinted after him, grabbed a handful of jumper and slammed him to the ground. The ball spilt free and Fido gathered it, kicked the goal and sealed the game.
4) Round 19: Fremantle: 3rd Quarter.
This was just a small snippet of Daniel Kerr's great season, but it's probably the best example of how he played all year. He was constantly at the bottom of packs, winning the ball and setting up forward thrusts.
He refused to be intimated and his passion and enthusiasm inspired his older team-mates.
The match was only spoilt by Brendan 'Dufas' Fewster crudely tackling Kerr and ending his season.
5) Round 19: Fremantle: Whole Match.
Before the match everyone was talking about Freo’s young "champions" like Mathew Pavlich.
By the end of the match Jako had absolutely pulverised Pavlich and won the 'Ross Glendenning Medal'.
It was a great reward for Jako, who had tried so hard all year for very little result.
What about you guys?
