v Carlton preliminary final in '76. Never much in it but we got up by a point.

v Essendon in '85, a thumping when we weren't crap but not premiership material and they went on to win back to back.

v Carlton in '96 when they'd thumped us three times the year before.

v Essendon in '93. The 8.8 to 1.2 in the last quarter and a 38pt loss actually flattered them in the end.

All the premierships, there's too many to name.

A good game but you lost by a point I think was vs the Crows in 2013 at etihad. Should have won the game led by a bit. I think the Crows stole it at the death or close to it.

You brought this up?

In here?

On here?

Are you ****ing nuts?

a game that sticks with me is freo in perth a few years ago, clarkos 2nd game, sheeze toe poke, we were 2-0 and i thought we were finally out of the mud, oh how downhill that season went from there.
The season with that awesome culture building win in the last round?

Sav Roccas 6 goals vs freo in 2004 at subi. Daniel wells goal from the ball up. Must have mentioned that already. Was a good roos win.

Yep Docklands, Sunday night, as in actual 7pm night (I recall because I remember thinking how much better it felt than starting at the stupid 4:40 time) but the Queens birthday was the next day so all good :thumbsu: .

I wasn’t there

Orange Peanut , iirc this was my “Leigh Colbert is shit post” when he was one of the best

Sounds like the beers were flowing that day in other Seats
That was the one gaso. Didn't you get lost on the way home then finally make it back only to log onto bf and bag Colby who was pretty much BOG? 🤣🤣

In fairness you were a massive schwatter fan and never really accepted a Geelong player getting the #2 Guernsey. Completely fair IMO.

My favourite memory of that day was bagging the Hawthorn fans about how they could have had Judd but they got stuck with this average half back flanker called Hodge instead. 😬

It was so long ago. Southern Stand. 20 beers.

Probably got lost walking out of the ground.

Don't know if I'd say this was my "favourite" ever North game, but the first one that came to mind when I saw the thread title was this one from 2005. I drove over from Adelaide by myself for this game, and the end of the 4th quarter was as intense a finish as I can ever remember seeing.

We were 5 goals down late in the game. We needed the win to cement our place in the finals. It had everything; Glenn Archer heroics, Boomer run and carry, bit of Daniel Wells, and the (imho under-rated) Nathan Thompson going back and drilling the goal... etc etc

In 2005 we choked away a lead with 2mins left at etihad vs you guys. Not sure what the margin was, could have been around 22 points or so. Lol.

35.19 vs swans in 1993 where McAdam and Longmire combined for 19 goals would have to be an AFL Record.

Just checked, and technically speaking no, as Fred Fanning and some bloke called Frank O'Connor kicked a combined 22 sausage rolls, albeit with Fanning doing a fair amount of heavy lifting with 18.

But to have two guys kick 10 and 9 on the same day is still absolutely obscene when you look back at it now. I remember having to beg my dad to take me to that game, as Sydney were on the bottom of the ladder and he refused to fork out money to watch a game involving the "South Melbourne dim sims" as he called them, but I thought someone might kick a big bag so I insisted, having no idea I would watch us get within 10 points of the all time scoring record.

Also spotted Ron Barassi in the crowd, presumably taking notes on the Swans players as he was about to be their coach.

Lucky you went. Also, I said AFL era didn't include VFL lol. I knew someone would have that covered.

IIRC Collingwood were bottom 2 and were on track for a priority pick and at the time most people just thought they tanked the game.

It really was one of our poorer efforts and despite the win you could tell we were just making up the numbers.

Oooppss. I didn't even know that the game he mentioned was the one I mentioned after it. I only read Adelaide in his post I thought it was the Crows he was referring to. I should have known crows were a decent side in 05. Topped the ladder. Unlike them to give a lead up like that.

Actually you guys and West Coast played a beauty in 2002 where eagles had to win to make the 8. Last game of the season, you guys already in the 8. At Manuka I believe. 22 goals to 20 or something like that. It was a good shoot out.

Troy Makepeace. Now there's a blast from the past.

Frustrating game that. Was probably a good sign that Pagan's gameplan was finally outdated, especially with Carey gone.
