Good piece from Russell Jackson on domestic one day kit.

Also this one that I came across looks a bit odd with Hughes and Marsh in Indian and NZ kit. The Hughes top looks to be a prototype of some sort.

The caption for big Merv in the Comets strip (this is a photo of a professional athlete) nearly made me choke :D

Ugh. Can you un-see things?
England wore a version in light blue a year later that looked even worse.

The first incarnation of this design had stripes on the sleeves, and came from an era where shirts were tight (it's the design the retro clothing company used). No doubt Rod Marsh used to shove his cigarettes into the sleeves off field, and I bet there would be footage somewhere of him doing it onfield...they were sponsored by B&H, after all...this design, **** on the biceps, proper bushy moustache plus sideburns plus unbuttoned rug, and a gigantic gold dangly chain - this isn't just a proper cricketer, it's the very definition of a real man...

The first ever design was white with the stripes. The Windies did it too, but England refused to partake...they even vetoed white balls, eventually compromising for night games only. England historically has always done a s**t job with their ODI uniforms...wtf is that pink s**t all over the current one...? There was one year they struck out - exactly the same shades of red and blue the roundels of WW2 planes like the Spitfire used, but otherwise they've always been clueless. The current blue, a strong red, and a big obnoxious crown and/or three lions shoved somewhere on it, that's what they need...

Wish they'd pick a World Cup design and then wear it in the years leading up to the tournament. A small thing but would give a feel of continuity. What we wore in the 2015 World Cup was completely different to what we were wearing weeks earlier.

You will never ever get a job in sports marketing. :D

Even AFL clubs who 'never change their jumper' are on board with changing their jumper a tiny amount each season now.

Soccer teams wear the same jumper leading up to the World Cup/European Championships.

The AFL season doesn't go for 6 weeks.

Loved the Vics in shorts lol.

Funny tradition though our sportsmen wearing trousers in the heat of Summer.

AFL players could wear pants like the baseballers if it was cold.
They could wear long skins but they would be burning up if they did tho.

If Australian winter was as cold as Europe or North America, Id suspect they would wear long skins.

I imagine pads could make batting and keeping a touch uncomfortable in shorts.
And, light trousers that keep the sun off but allow the breeze in are probably cooler than shorts anyway. (Although, if that is true, it begs the question why more don't wear long-sleeved shirts)
