Well Sampras lost a few French Opens. He was hardly ridiculously dominant. Wimbledon yes, but not the other surfaces!

Obviously it's Roger federer. Totally a class apart. It's possible to have players you root for for personal reasons of nationality or whatever but for pure tennis mastery federer is the ultimate.

it is impossible to like tennis and not be a fan of his just like basketballers had to appreciate Jordan or Bird and cricketers had to appreciate Warne or lillee. Masters are masters.

Yes, I know that, and I am saying that he was just as dominant on hardcourts as he was on grass. Fine, if you don't want to include the Australian Open and only use one of the hardcourt grand slams then consider the fact he made more finals at the US Open than he did on grass at Wimbledon. Saying he wasn't dominant on hardcourts is stupid, only Jimmy Connors won as many US Open's as Sampras did.

If Sampras wasn't dominant on hardcourts then who was? Agassi? Sampras was still in more hardcourt finals.

I would suggest you look at the % of finals he has been in finals. He made it most years in Wimbledon with a very high % final rate. His %final rate on hardcourts would be worse as he is playing accross 2 slams.
