My top 5

1. Selma's Choice
2. Rosebud
3. The PTA Disbands
4. Last Exit to Springfield
5. Cape Feare

There's heaps more, but for me these are the best they produced of the golden age.

What are 2 and 3??

I'm assuming no.1 is when Selma takes the kids to duff brewery
if so, brilliant ep. and the quotes that stand out imo are..

'I am the lizard queen'

'Give her this and this and then these...'
'Thank you doctor'
'Oh I'm not a doctor'

'I'd like to be alone with the sandwich for a moment'
'Are you going to eat it?...'
....
'Yes'

One of the best guest cameos in that ep

"I'd just like to say this gig sucks"
"Hey up yours Springfield!"

geeez there really is too many isn't there
Love the Frank Grimes episode plus the one with John Waters
Marge: Homer, John is a homo
Homer: Right
Marge: sexual
Homer screams
Rosebud, Flaming Moes and The one where Timmy O'Toole fell down the well
Loved the comic book guy's T-shirts
"I survived Timmy O'Toole falling down the well"
Krusty: Well I wanted to doing something to help that boy, so I called my good friend Sting. He said Krusty when do you need me, I said Thursday, he said he's busy Thursday. Then I said Ok how about Friday. He said Friday's worst then Thursday. Then he said how about Saturday. I said fine.........True Story
I Do Believe We're Naked by Funky-C-Funky-Do replaces We're Sending Our Love Down the Well which plunges all the way down to number 97
Marge: Sting you look tired, mabye you should rest
Sting: Not while one of my fans needs me
Marge: Actually I don't think I've ever heard Bart play one of your albums
Homer: Shhhh Marge, he's a good digger
Selma's choice is great just for the first 10 minutes of pure gold
Ding Dong the witch is dead, which old witch, the wicked witch
Her legend will live forever
Homer's Brain: Yeah, the legend of the dog faced women
Homer Aloud: Hahaha the legend of the dog faced women oh that's gold

My top 7, which I could watch every day are:

Lisa's substitute - Dustin Hoffman plays Lisa's substitute teacher crush and Bart nearly becomes class president

Mr Burns sell the nuclear plant to the Germans - enough said

Simpson and Delilah - Homer's life turns around when he gets miracle hair restorer Demoxinal

Homer alone - Marge has a break-down and goes to El Rancho Relaxo leaving Homer in charge

The way we was - Homer and Marge flashback to how they met in high school

Oh brother where art thou? - Homer meets his long lost brother the auto executive played by Danny De Vito

Black Widower - Sideshow Bob gets out of jail and marries Aunt Selma ... and MacGyver.

"Have the Rolling Stones killed."
"But sir, those were the R..."
"Do as I say!"

Still cracks me up whenever I see it. Rosebud and Cape Feare both seriously underrated for mine.

Deep Space Homer is probably my favourite though.

Stillwater: People, we're in danger of losing our funding. America isn't interested in space exploration anymore.
Babcock: Maybe we should finally tell them the big secret, that all the chimps we sent into space came back super intelligent.
(A chair swivels around, revealing a chimp in a suit, wearing glasses, and smoking a pipe.)
Chimp: (arrogant; English accent) No, I don't think we'll be telling them that.

Stillwater: Gentlemen, in a way you're both winners. But in another more accurate way, Barney is the winner.

Kent: Ladies and gentlemen, er, we've just lost the picture, but,
uh, what we've seen speaks for itself. The Corvair spacecraft
has been taken over -- "conquered", if you will -- by a master
race of giant space ants. It's difficult to tell from this
vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men
or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain, there is no
stopping them; the ants will soon be here.
And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to
remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful
in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar
caves.

Deep Space Homer is probably my favourite though.

One of my favorite scenes from this classic

Homer: Hello, is this President Clinton? Good! I figured if anyone
knew where to get some Tang, it'd be you. ...Shut up!
Assistant: Excuse me --
Homer: Aah!
Assistant: Are you the person that called NASA yesterday?
Homer: No, it wasn't me, I swear! It was...him! [points to Barney]
Scientist: Sir, how would you like to get higher than you've ever been
in your life?
Barney: Be an astronaut? Sure!
Scientist: Well, welcome aboard. I think you'll find this will win you
the respect of your family and friends.
Homer: [gasps] Respect? Nooo! It was me. _I_ made the crank call.
I do it all the time! Check with the FBI: I have a file. I
have a file!
Scientist: Ehh, better take both of them.
[The assistant clubs Barney and Homer, knocking them out]
I don't really think that was necessary; they _wanted_ to be
astronauts.
Assistant: I know.

Yep brilliant ep imo.

Best scene however is in 22 short films about springfield between Skinner and Chalmers. I was in tears after watching that scene.

Lol YES. You call them steamed hams, despite the fact they are obviously grilled?

maxpower_home.jpg

"From now on, we'll be spelling everything with letters"

"You don't snuggle with Max Power, you strap yourself in and feel the G's!"

"Kids, there's three ways to do things. The right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way!
Isn't that the wrong way?
Yeah, but faster!"

"Max Power, he's the man whose name you'd love to touch! But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear! 'Cause his name can be said by anyone!"

How can no one have mentioned the Thomas Edison episode- The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace?"

Homer OK, this time, try to keep your nostrils closed.

Lisa: Dad women won't like being shot in the face.

Homer Women will like what I tell them to like.

Kent Brockman:
In other news, Thomas Edison-the greatest inventor of all time-is apparently still inventing despite the notable handicap of being dead.

some of my all-time favs

Lemon of Troy
Summer of 4 Ft. 2
Bart Of Darkness

Marge vs the Monorail

Quimby: And may I introduce, Leonard Nimoy
Nimoy: Thank you. I bet this vessel could do Warp 5.
Quimby: Thank you, and may I say, may the, uh, force be with you
Nimoy: Do you even know who I am?
Quimby: I think I do. Weren't you one of the Little Rascals?

Same episode, homer in the speeding monrail;
