Just manipulate distance, intensity and real variables.
It’ll give you a genuinely infinite amount of combinations.

We did one Monday night as a punishment for guys not turning up to pre-season camp
75 x 75m run throughs at 70-80% with ~25m walk recovery
Ends up being 5625m of running

Was that everyone or just the guys that didn’t turn up?

Of the 20+ then went to day 1 of the camp only 3 turned up for day 2.
None were there on Monday so I presume they were told not to turn up lol

Very old school, I know myself and the senior coach if we tried this at my club it wouldn’t work. Young millennials need a cuddle not a whack haha.

We scrapped the camps a couple years ago because of the lack of numbers, we just ran 3 Saturday sessions in February.

Haha.
We don’t have too many millennials during pre-season (nor at the club in general; might be a country thing lol).
Our current coach has gained a lot of respect by making such punishments few and far between, and for generally being a lot more two-way in his conversations than the last coach (who meant well but had horrible people skills).
The only ones I’ve heard complain about his coaching are arrogant old twos players so for the most part it’s not a real concern.

Last year we cancelled, but this time we brought the netballers along so I think they had close to 40 go all up (I worked so couldn’t get down at all).

That's bullshit whatever it was for - hope he';s ready for a slate of injuries in the next 2 - 3 weeks - especially as praccy games start up

And you know what - punishing everyone but the blokes it's intended for does sweet FA

A lot of coaching is so backwards is ridiculous

I actually didn’t think it was that bad (I track every session with a GPS and normally clock 4-4.5km of hard running so 5.6km isn’t *that* big of a spike).
Just boring as *.

Different interval times/intensities train different energy systems and specific aspects of endurance - without knowing what you need to improve how do you know what you need to do to get the most benefit?

Thus why just turning up and doing whatever someone says to do can be a total waste of time and most importnatly effort

Train smarter, not harder...or be like everyone else
