Did anyone else notice MrB got absolutely smashed late.. like 1.80 into 1.45 about 1 min before they jumped.. that’s a huge go, does that have anything to do with a world pool ?

Probably wouldn't have made a difference as the winner was massive but JMac made himself a sitting duck, not a good ride at all.

I think the world pool is about the only way to make the tote worse. I thought he was a touch unders fixed so backed it best tote hoping it might drift a bit, should have known better, at least got SP but you are kind of betting against the big syndicates getting rebates on tote so complete waste of time now on major meets.

The world pool is a total rort and the racing industry is promoting it as something special.
They are treating punters like they are stupid (and to be honest a lot of them are} but if the TAB decided to make the takeout something like 5% rather than what it is currently, they would get a few of the permanently banned punters back betting with them and the tote pools would be competitive.
World pool is one of the biggest stains on racing recently. Like Heath said not only do we get served up a massive shit sandwich as punters but then we get the industry telling us all how lucky we are to be eating said shit sandwich
Agree, 100%. Would completely crucify products such as BOB and best tote or starting price. Of course the PRA's don't give a shit about punters despite the face we fund the industry

The World Tote is great if you're betting with corps what are you guys talking about? One of the only consistent ways to get drastic differences between the totes and the SP. Sure it seemed bad that the winner paid 1.45 on the weekend but if anything else won anyone taking BT+SP got huge overs (and Mr Brightside punters still got their 1.80).
Just think back to two years ago when Romantic Warrior got rolled first up and Gold Trip Top Fluc'd at about 21s and paid $34 on the tote or whatever it was.

One of the worst takes Ive seen on here. It is complete dog shit for betting with the corps because it completely eliminates the Best Tote product which is THE best product available for the punter. Getting best of a shittier tote product and SP is a huge downgrade no matter what single races you want to cherry pick

Idk, maybe on average it is, not like I've run the numbers on every race that's ever used World Pool. Obviously a "Best of" anything gains its value from how different the things you're getting the best of can be. Feels to me like there isn't ever that much difference between the 3 totes and the SP, but the world pool can be very different to the SP.
I know for a fact BT+SP market percentage was < 100% in the Romantic Warrior/Gold Trip Turnbull Stakes (betting the entire field was an arb), which is pretty crazy and something you'd never get remotely close to in a big race with regular BT+SP. But possible those examples are few and far between I guess
Obviously the Romantic Warrior race is a huge outlier with nearly all the money in the pool coming from HK for a HK runner

Thought the first 2 races at Sandown today provided a couple of good betting opportunities.
Race 1: Was happy to spec Kiss My Rock second up. Senior rider replaces the apprentice and should be able to find a position from barrier 6.
Belle Detelle, Shinn got off last start and said looking for 2000m yet she turns up again in a mile maiden. 1.50 no thanks. Trent (No Thanks) and Mick price said he was hopeful rather than confident about Global Eclipse.
Race 2: Backing Rapid Cheval had 2 good trials leading into this, Laming stable airborne and that Treasurethemoment form is holding up everywhere. Brown on is a signal of intent.
