This proves he might be a great player but a disgraceful human being.Wonder how gaelictiogar gonna spin out of this one???

You are a deluded tool. Get over your obsession. "A disgraceful human being" - someone that gives a shitload of time and money to charities.

Yes he might be arrogant and he might have an ego but FFS but to call the guy a "disgraceful human being" on the back of a couple of comments is well a disgrace.

Your posts are always the same old same old. I couldn't be bothered wasting my time. The fact is you even stated it is enough.

Just accept the fact that both Federer and Nadal are legends of the game and will end up being two of the greatest players ever. Who gives a toss who is better than who, just enjoy the fact that you are able to witness such greats of the game.

Federer gets line judges replaced after bad calls

Roger Federer beat Belgium's Kristof Vliegen 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 6-2 in a Davis Cup match on Friday after the irate Swiss star requested that an entire team of line judges be replaced.

Upset by a baseline call that led to him losing serve to trail 2-0 in the second set, Federer walked to his chair and called for match referee Norbert Peick to change the line judges.

The team of nine officials was kept in place before being removed at a change of ends when the US Open champion trailed 4-1.

They left the indoor arena to a chorus of boos from a partisan Swiss crowd.

"It was an annoying call for me and I just asked him to change them, that's all I did," Federer said.

"Who knows, maybe I overreacted but I was so irritated by the call because for me it was such an obvious call."

After the new line judge team was brought on Federer proceeded to win the next five games and take the second set.

This just gets better than better, is it hard to be gracious when you are winning everything? ofcourse when you lose its completely different. If hewitt did this, he would be the worst player to play tennis, ever. But its Federer so i guess he will get away with it? this just goes to show although he might be a great player, what a sore ass loser he is.

Roger Federer, who has limited his Davis Cup play to one tie a year for the past few years, says he might play more next year because the schedule is due to be adjusted to the players' requests: "We have had long discussions and it has always been very difficult because some people think they know better than us players. It’s actually cost me the Davis Cup for the last four years, unfortunately, because people won’t understand.

“Next year it’s going to be better for Davis Cup and they might be rewarded by me playing again more often ... On Tuesday we will know the draw, that’s going to answer many questions."

ROFL! So it continues :D

He thinks he is god, invincible  whenever he loses its because he was ill or the weather is bad.He has a huge ego which makes him a sad human being.Ok disgraceful making going too far..but he has a huge ego, i dont understand how people actually like him.I couldnt say the same about sampras and i dont like sampras either.
Or maybe because English is his 3rd or 4th language he sometimes comes off more blunt than he would like?

Or maybe because English is his 3rd or 4th language he sometimes comes off more blunt than he would like?

maybe, but dont you find it surprising that he only whinges when he loses?? every match that he lost..he slips in atleast one barbed comment.English? i dont think so.He was losing the second set to Vligen and he got the linesman removed, he got a poor run with hawkeye last US open and he started talking against it.Who said u gotta be at your best to qualify it as a proper loss? thats a crap argument put forward by federer fans in general.

Meh, he's entitled to his opinion, who are we to judge. The lines judges have been atrocious over the years - simple solution would have been to have hawk-eye, but I guess they couldn't be f***d setting it up for 3 days of tennis.

Johnny Mac was a sore loser, that guy was a legend!

I'm not a Federer fan, but F**K that guy is an awesome player.

The way I see it, it comes down to the eyes of the beholder. If you hate Federer, then fair enough, but dont go preaching what a disgrace he is for the manner in which he carries himself on and off the court. Nobodies perfect, some of you guys expect him to be!

his whinging opinion you mean? if you dont know, he complained about the accuracy of hawk eye even, when he was not the calls his way  No one is disputing the fact that he is a great player but he is a poor loser, cant handle a loss properly and cant pay credits to his opponent.Johnny Mac might been an arseh*le on court but offcourt he always use to pay credits to his opponents when they beat him, something federer never acknowledges.

...and before someone says its because of his poor english, how come he always acknowledges how awesome the player was when he wins? last year when rafa won, rafa was supposed to be the 2nd best player on grass. All of a sudden that disappeared to a fluke victory on grass because of light.Go figure.

I disagree with this as an excuse. Roger grew up speaking english in addition to german and french. The official languages of Sui. Rafa speaks far worse english yet manages to come across as humble.

Ditto for many other non-english speaking players.

According to US News & World Report, even in Switzerland, no more than 10 per cent of the people are capable of writing a simple letter in English. (Bryson, 1990, 176)

You leaned something today Power King :thumbsu:

Federer is a bit of a dick and I like that. I don't like the homogenisation of players, images and personalities in this sport. I don't like Djokovic but I like having him around because he is the villain. Murray is a brat. You could accuse all these guys of being immature, having egos, being poor losers, but screw that P.R. bullshit, these guys are human and Roddick, Federer, Murray and Djokovic say what they feel and I commend them for it.

And what a surprise, Federer is going to play a full Davis Cup schedule next year for the first time in years.

And guess what?

They are going to give rankings points now in Davis Cup matches from next year. Coincidence?

wtf is research report gonna say? i am living in switzerland for well over 2 years now...trust me thats bull.....

P.S Have you ever been spain? try going to Spain, no one speaks english, starting from the guy at the passport control.

Ridiculous argument.

You don't get to the top without ego. Rafa Nadal's time wasting, his excessive fist pumping and vamosing could be presented as bad grace and ego if a person didn't like him and wanted to do him down.

Every great player has an edge, a part of his personality which drives him.

Why shouldn't fed ignore a meaningless and irrelevant team event? it is his career. Does anyone attack Tiger woods for being well off the pace in Ryder Cup? No. People realise his focus is on the PGA tour where he is king and pushes his weight around with events hanging on his involvement. Fed is no different.

Nadals time wasting? please tell me where exactly he is breaking the law? he is allowed 20 seconds and he he using up 19.5, how is that ego??? its strategy, no one spoke about Agassi being too quick inbetween points and used it as a strategy? you are mistaken between ego and strategy. Vamosing has always been there for guys with street fighter like mentality like Hewitt. How come its ego? he pumps himself up with vamos. How come its ego? its not like he is saying Oh im the greatest ever..like that maggot.

Thats right, Federer playing davis cup, gives a whole new meaning to it  while nadal, murray, nole and others playing it doesnt make it any better does it? GT you are sticking up for a personality of federers calibur speaks shitloads about your own personality.

Fair post I must admit.

Not sure if that 10% statement is true, but regardless, Federer himself said he grew up speaking English. Swiss-German were the first words he uttered, but he still grew up speaking English.

thats not entirely true..he has south african heritage as well and he did spend a year or two in south africa as well.He said his best friend used to be a south african. So he grew up speaking english as well

^Yeah the point still stands. He has a very good grasp of the English language, and from a young age.

I guess the reason I have anti-federer elements is because people build him up to be some form of perfect angel, when really he isn't.

One other big readon is that people claim him to be the best ever. Something I do not agree with at all. But that's for another thread's argument.

Well, when you dominate the sport like he did for so long and get a good reputation with his behaivour, the media are always to going to pump him up like that, no ne is perfect, and that's definately true looking at fed's year this year.

I would like to see why you think he is not the best ever. You should start that thread and throw it out there - see if the punters agree with you...

Some classic comments from Federer over the last year :D (courtesy MTF)

Thats right, if it wasnt like that, he should have won it.Rafa cheated hey roger? :thumbsu::eek:
Amazing...the maggot reckons people were sorry for him than was happy for rafa winning wimbledon and this gold comment was last year after winning wimbledon against Rafa :D (apart from other comments i have mentioned in the other thread re: Murray).

:D

Hey Total Power, You've got a lot of quotes on this thread but not many references. How do we know if they are all true if we can't check for ourselves? There is also the language barrier that maybe needs to be addressed as well. I'm not sure you would be particularly fluent if you had to do a press conference in Swiss.
(incidentally a team of soft outside runners - won a premiership because of Hardwick in the guts - another story...)
