My wife stays at home with our kids. Hasn't worked for 3 years. Personally, I feel lucky we can swing it. No angst or sexism involved. We did what works for us. Everybody should be able to without judgement.
"us"
As in plural.
As in both members of the relationship.

I think that's the bit that gets massively overlooked in this whole debate. If a women takes time off to raise a child, it's not as if she has to take a financial hit alone while her spouse continues to live a lavish lifestyle.

He's not gonna be eating caviar right in front of her while she has beans on toast. He's not gonna take business class flights while she sits in economy. You wear the hits together and enjoy the benefits together.

I dunno, do you know any men who don't want a career? Who just go to work to meet a successful woman?
I got a wifey and she has a nice career. I'm not very materialistic or have a degree in anything. I like being a house husband! I clean everything, and go to the service station late at night when she says she wants dorritos :D :D :D

It's silly, but it's also not really. The Center of Feminist Art is a real thing (it's part of the Brooklyn Museum) and they did actually give the muppet an award (Gloria Steinem presented it).

Elizabeth Sackler, the founder of the awards, told msnbc, “Miss Piggy embodies overtly all the characteristics that women need to have in order to really succeed. We’re talking about tenacity, strength, intelligence, strategy, a sense of humor… She also believes that who you are is all you need to be and [to] really go for it.”
She was also physically and emotionally abusive toward her boyfriend for decades.

I scrolled down for a while and couldn't find the part that was supposed to be news. So one person on the internet said disgusting things to another person on the internet?
Maybe the bit where the guy decided to take a post from one form of social media, post it to another. Or the guy who wrote some similar sentiments posted here about women, feminists etc... and then the one guy who was accused of writing such comments, (apparently incorrectly) and subsequently fired from his job.

It may not be news to you, but to young people who are on the internet and social media, it is. Maybe more relevant than comments about Miss Piggy. :)

Yes, yes and the Daily Telegraph, one of the, if not the, most read papers in the country, named a horse the sportswoman of the year.
But yes, get all offended by the Center of Feminist Art, which almost no one in this country would ever have heard of doing something stupid.
I don't know when it started but you seem to be evolving into a version of tesseract on valium.

I didn't see the part about losing his job. Good result and I guess that makes it news. Guy is a wanker.

If you don't see how a prominent feminist presenting a feminist award on behalf of a feminist organization to a puppet most memorable for assaulting male puppets is relevant to the thread, then...I don't know what to say.

Gloria Steinem is one of the most well-known feminists out there. Her involvement makes it worthy of discussing in this thread.

If they were going to give the award to a fictional character, why Miss Piggy? Why not Lisa Simpson? It's a really weird choice to give it to a character best remembered for unprovoked acts of violence.

As for being compared to tesseract, well you're edging pretty close to ignore status yourself. We had a few constructive discussions in the past and even agreed on issues in another thread, but lately all you've had is weak personal shit like the above or just flat out ignoring anything that requires you to consider other points of view.

Yes, we have had constructive discussions in the part but since you started banging on about the air conditioning article you have gone nutter.
But hey, the ignore button is your friend.

You've brought that up several times since I last did.

Legit question: Is there anything any prominent feminist or feminist organization could say or do that would allow us, in your opinion, to legitimately criticize modern mainstream feminism?

Okay. Just nothing that's been mentioned so far in the thread then, I guess.

Ad campaigns to ban the word bossy. Manipulation of statistics to exaggerate the pay gap. Mainstream media outlets portraying masculinity as toxic. Constant freakouts over non-issues on social media. The treatment of women who reject modern feminism (including 1st and 2nd wave feminists who do so). Not even having the founder of feminism's most well known magazine present a feminist award to a fictional, porcine domestic abuser. None of these have been enough to get a reasonable on-topic response from most of you.

Who is trying to ban the word 'bossy'?
Which mainstream media is portraying masculinity as toxic?
Which treatment of women are you referring to?
And, yes, giving a feminist award to Miss Piggy is stupid on so many levels.
