all i can hope is that the club does eveyrthing in its power to keep him at the club, and also everything its power to make it difficult for clubs inparticular st kilda to get a sniff of him. he is a HUGE piece of our future. the whole team could be built around him and hentschel.

if we keep ferg we have 2 gun forwards in hent and ferg, then a jericho and other small crumbers in the forward line.

in the midfield we will have chris knights (dont underestimate him, only reason he wasnt a top 15 or 20 draft pick was coz he was injured all last season..he is carving up in sanfl ressies...albeit ressies), van berlo, hopefully bryce gibbs, johncock, thompson, reilly, mattner, skipworth if he improves, and a few others

in the ruck we will obviously have meesen, hudson and maric (maric could be huge or could be a dud, but if he delivers on his promise he could well be the best thing ever)

and then in defence we have mcgregor, gibson and rutten.

not one of those players is a bad aquisition to sy the least.

on top of that we will get our natural draft picks who will no doubt add to this growing list of very talented yuongsters.

If Ferg wanted to leave then we have to push for either or of a 20-21 year old future South Aussie gun and a 3rd rounder or a mid to late 1st rounder to at least compensate for what we spent on him in the first place. Your best bet would be the Doggies.

Doggies - Could he be used as bait for Griffen? We may have to throw in another pick to sweeten the deal.

Essendon - I would have thought Essendon could do with a likely CHF type to replace the ageing Lucas ? Perhaps Monfries could be a likely target ?

I do not know Fergus Watts and have never met him but the impression I get from his is that he is a very unassuming lad who may not be able to handle the spot light in a two-team town.

Why would he open up and potentially create some very public animosity by say the things you have quoted him as saying? The poster known as Fergus watts is 16 year old (sorry no disrespect about the age, or someone in year 11) who he (the real Fergus watts may have met once or twice? I doubt that he told him/you that he is homesick and didn’t have any appreciation for the football club (his employer), just reading between the lines from of the previous posts it sounds like you are just trying to make a big deal out of a one line conversation, I have no doubt that you did do work experience and he may have come in and your conversation went something like this

I understand that Fergus' Dad is the CEO of St Kilda and Im sure he would love to have him at the Saints but his number 1 role is as a Dad to Fergus and I dont think he would be getting in Fergus' ear about coming back to St Kilda.
When you think about it, his opportunities at the Saints would be significantly less with all their tall marking forwards, if he cannot crack a game at Adelaide where this is by far our biggest weakness I dont think he will crack the line up there.
Mr Watts would have to take this into account otherwise he is damaging his son's career IMO and I dont think any Dad would want to do that.

Give him time, let him play a few games and see how he goes then.

i dont think his age has anything to do with it, as long as he show where he has got the information from and this seems logical, then whats the problem?? Cause it comes from a 20yr old with no sources its more reliable is it??

And he/she just said the general tone of ferg's answer, obviously he isnt going to say i hate it here and want to get the next plane out of here. Its just a hint or indication, not necessarily fact, nothing wrong with sharing that with us.
