2. If jimmy is your only source, then why were your draft predictions so wrong??

I still think it seems a bit far-fetched. It just doesn't seem right for Ferg to discuss his playing career with a complete stranger.

AFL players have to be extremely careful as to what they do and don't say these days as more often than not, things can be misconstrued and can lead to them landing themselves in hot water.

Just my opinion though.

I've said it before and I was shot down somewhat for it, but I dont think Watts will make it at the AFC, and might not make it at AFL level at all. He hasnt shown much at all IMO, not even at SANFL level. I think we should be looking to use him to get one of the many quality SA lads currently on other clubs lists. He has enough potential and has the size to get the interest of the Victorian clubs and would draw a pretty good trade for us now. If we leave it beyond the trade period at the end of this season though, I think his trade value will diminish, as he will be found out as just another good/average player.

We may never know if he doesnt soon start getting a game. We are all trying to make decisions about these blokes based on playing in some shyte SANFL teams. If Watts, Jericho and co dont get picked soon, any judgement on their abilities as AFL footballers will simply remain conjecture.

Let it be mate, Stiffy_18 is not misleading me with any information and I doubt that he is trying to mislead anyone else for that matter, all that he is doing is giving supporters, fan and general football lovers an opportunity a bit more of an insight into how some things are done at the AFC. If you are going to question and ask for proof of every post from every person “jack” I think you are missing the point of this ‘big footy’ forum.

This is a public football forum and if you want to believe stuff that is posted on this then that is your own prerogative but until Steven Trigg or Phil Harper have said anything at an official Adelaide Crows press conference don’t take anything as gospel. Not that Stiffy_18 of any of the other 'AA' posters misleads on purpose, but some times the facts change, as in the draft last year. The players that get selected will change pick by pick surly you can understand that and appreciate that’s why he didn’t have the correct players.

Jack, I think it may be time for you to go back and have your daily dose of Prozac have a bit more sleep and head of to what ever you will do during day light hours as Springchoke informed us of your occupation ‘the Summer Bay Stalker’

Your solution was to ring James Fantasia up, and ask him if he knows someone called stiffy_18 on the internet. Then to ask him if he gave you any hints on what players he was going to draft. Unfortunately for you, your predictions at draft time, which were as you put it from talking to jimmy, completely up the creek, in fact not even close. Why was this?? Because a professional recruiting manager is not going to tell a fool on the internet who he plans to draft. This is the truth. You made media predictions not the recruiting managers thoughts.

And I was only mucking around but its obvious this still hits a nerve. Just simply reminding a poor poster about the credibility of your inside links. Whats amusing is you could easily say that you really dont have a clue, but you like everyone to think you do. This 16yr old kid has more of an idea that you, and you know it. Apart from this, i find most of your posts slightly amusing though… Maybe we can overlook last yrs terrible predictions and you can give us a tip this yr if i’m still around and we can see how much you really know. It will be interesting.

Jack, I agree with one of your points. And that is Fantasia is not going to reveal to anyone outside the club all the inside goss on draft plans. He's going to keep some cards close to his chest.

But I think Stiffy deserves plenty of credit. He has a history of coming up with some great scoops. Scott Thompson last year is a great example. Stiffy was telling is a month before the end of the season that Thompson was a chance to come to us and we were pursuing him hard. At that stage there was absolutley nothing in the media about it at all. The belief from everyone was that Thompson hated the Crows and would never play for us. That one obviously proved to be right on the money. No one would ever have guessed that was going to happen without good contacts.

We also have to realise that draft plans can change dramatically in the lead up to the draft so something Stiffy hears one week could be right on the money but two weeks later the club could have changed it's mind.

Heath Grundy is a good example. Prior to the draft the Crows said they were keen. He went undrafted. Does that mean the Crows were telling fibs? Possibly. But perhaps they rated him slightly behind Gibson but after taking Chad had no need for another similar type of player. Had we not got Gibson, maybe we would have claimed Grundy. We just won't know these things.

It's just unrealistic to think Stiffy can tell us accurately how we will draft. Not even Fantasia would know how things will pan out, even the day before the draft. That's the way the draft is. Things happen on draft day that no one can predict.

Edit: I should add that I appeciate the info that Stiffy passes on. I know he is not going to have a 100% strike rate but I can accept that. It's good to at least know what sort of deals the Crows are attempting to broker. If it wasn't for people like Stiffy, we'd only hear about the successful trades after they happen and never hear about the rest.

Well jack you got plenty of things wrong.

1) Firstly, I am not a 20 year old student. My days as a student are over. In fact I have 2 degrees but lets not go there. I am not misleading anyone jack. I know 2 people involved in footy one of them happens to be James Fantasia who I met a fair while ago. My best mate happens to be his first cousin and thats how I met James. I have known James for a few years now.

2) James is not my only source but he is the one I see more often that the other source who also happens to be a scout for the crows and he is a former West Adelaide player. I met him through James at one of the SANFL games. When I run into him, we have a chat and more often than not we talk about football.

Why some of my pre-draft predictions went wrong?????? Firstly, I said that Grundy would go in the second round and he didn't thats the only prediction that hasn't eventuated. I also said that Crows were interested in some players and those players ended up somewhere else. We were interested in Gibson and we got him. If you know what things go differently at draft time why don't you tell me why was Surjan overlooked in the National Draft when many others, including James himself rated the lad as definetly not lasting past early 2nd round????? Many things happen on draft day jack, some players are rated higher than others, some slip because clubs are looking for something else. Different strategies mean that clubs will look at the draft pool differently.

Lastly, I genuinely expected you to ring James because you are always bitching and moaning about it. If the roles were reversed I would have given him a call if something bothered me as it obviously bothers you.

I answered you questions jack and this is the last you will hear from me on this issue because I am sick and tired of your snipes on this issue. Every explaination or solution that gets thrown your way is ignored because you know that you would be exposed for the tossbag that you really are.
