Ferguson To Hawthorn

Reported in the age that we may lose Ferguson.

Do not want him to leave, he is a very good prospect and could hold down FB for a long time, however I do believe Carroll is the better option.

Should aim for at least a first-rounder. Pick 22 has been touted.

We should aim to keep him as he a good year this year and should only get better. A player with a lot of courage, just needs to spend some time in the gym!!! I would be sad to see him depart.

Ferguson for Sewell, I believe is the proposed deal.....Maybe some draft picks involved as well.

For you Demons supporters Sewell is a 21 yo run with tagger who has done some great jobs this year shutting down the opponents best midfielders.

He also has the ability to get his own ball as well, he had several games where he got over 22 possies.

He takes a good grab for his size and he is a pretty good kick....For what its worth a lot of people on HHQ do not want to lose Sewell.

What can you all tell me about Furguson?????????

The other one being talked about is we use our pick 18 that we gain off the Roos for Hay.... So its Pick 18 and Steven Greene to Melb for Furguson.

I had the same reaction as you did....only I said

No way do we want some Melbourne second rater for Sewell, the point is you know nothing about Sewell....

I have a mate who supports Hawthorne who really rates Sewell as well. I wouldln't mind picking him up either as thats what the MFC midfield is crying for.

Ferg isn't a bad player, can take a grab, but can be out played and out run but the stronger forwards, ie Lloyd, Pav, Reiwoldt etc....

IMO I don' think we will lose that much in losing Ferg, i like him and so do most supporters but i won't be dissapointed to see him go!

Would be a good trade for the MFC

I see it the same as losing Matthew Bishop. Not a great loss at the time, but over time he put in a lot of great work for Port when were screaming for a Tall Back.

it took me forever to believe in this guy! we cant let him go! this guy has courage and when our defense is lacking height i dont think its a great idea to get rid of him. Carroll wont deffinately hold down full back after playing the last 5 games of the year well. he looks good but aint a certainty.. we do need a tagigng midfielder but i dont think its worth it for fergy.

From what I can gather, it was actually Ferguson who knocked the trade back. He was still under contract with us and didn't want to budge on that. I think that's great... but... when he comes out of contract, will he remember being offered around 12 months ago and want out?

I was surprised to see his name even mentioned, although I think it was more from Hawthorn's end in terms of a replacement for Hay.

My thoughts exactly.
He's one of the players that is the future of this club. Sewell wouldn't be bad, but Fergy will be a very good player for the MFC.
