NONE and I mean NONE of his payout will go towards the salary cap as it will be sanctioned by the AFL.

Strange how Adrian Anderson made a comment about how they have the power to spread out the payment over multiple years to ease the pressure on clubs salary caps... you know in the article that started this thread.

So how come you have so much more inside knowledge on the AFL than Adrian Anderson?

Fox Sports amongst others are reporting it. Either way its common sense. Any sacking sanctioned by the AFL isnt included in the salary cap. Been that way for many many years

It should be included! Brisbane knew what they were taking on and just because it blew up in their face doesn't mean the AFL should bail them out.

Thats on the basis they sack him without there permission. If the AFL ask for him to be sacked and they do it none of it will be included in the salary cap. Not that hard to understand isnt it?

No the article is not that hard to understand... but your claims are completely contradictory of that.

"Contrary to recent reports, the AFL yesterday confirmed it would use its discretion to relieve the club's salary-cap woes by spreading Fevola's seven-figure payout over two years, as it did with St Kilda last season when Andrew Lovett was sacked."

AFL quite happy to bend the rules when it suits them. Can't see the link with Andrew Lovett/St Kilda agreement and Fev's situation - poles apart!

Maybe because the Fevola incidents aren't as bad as the Lovett case perhaps? Could be the reason why the AFL is helping out Brisbane and didnt with St.Kilda.

If the Lions sack him without the AFLs permission that will happen. If the AFL ask for him to be sacked then none of it is included in the salary cap.

Why would the Lions sack him when they can just wait it out, let the shitstorm develop and get the AFL to intervene?

You think the AFL is going to request a club sack a player after he has just sort help for his problems?

Thats purely ridiculous.

Use its discretion... lol

Translated... we are a joke of an organisation who breaks its own rules whenever we can't get what we want.

Wow! Got some issues with the AFL do we? I see the common sence in dealing with a grey area.

The AFL will use its discretion allow the Lions to not have to take the salary cap hit up-front but instead carry it over the two years remaining over the rest of Fevs contract.

But they wont write it off.

Lol at the bitter Eagles fans thinking this is all about them.

Perhaps the AFL assisted Brisbane in arriving at this decision to provide a smokescreen for the grubby story of Ricky Nixon's escapades, which they knew was brewing.

Hopefully Fev can clear his debts and settle down to some sort of normal existence. A year down the track, who knows what doors might open?

Anyone else see the irony in sacking Fev for abusing 2 (of the top 3) products that the AFL advertises and receives sponsorship dollars for.

Next they will be sacking people for having addictions to leather. Hypocrites and what not

Hypocrisy of the highest order! Gambling advertising is certainly rife at the moment, and AFL cashing in big time! What irks me is that the AFL act so sanctimoniously in public, yet behind closed doors though they gladly fraternise with the oft morally and ethically corrupt, teflon-suited corporates that are happy to feed on the misery of others.

Fev can see his kids on a regular basis.
How often is "regular" though? He's in Brisbane, kids are in Melbourne. Regular could be once a month, as long as it's once every month, if you know what I mean?

Speaking purely from my own perspective here, I think I would find it very hard not to see my kids at least once or twice a week, and I doubt Fev has that much contact with them.

Lots of people have to deal with separation I know, like mine workers, soldiers overseas etc, so Fev is not special in that regard. However, given the problems he is already facing, I can't see him surviving in that environment. My gut feeling is this is why he can't stay in Brisbane.

Forgot to throw the pokies into the mix too. Sacking Fev now is a bit like a drug dealer taking his wife to drug rehab and filing for a divorce isnt it. Vlad shouldnt dance with the devil if hes not willing to do the limbo

Yeah fair enough. It's a bit of a sore point about kids, alcohol addiction and excuses with me. He really should have focased on the kids before all this got out of hand.

IMO you're right on the money in saying that.
Seems his kids mean the world to him and him being apart from them is destroying him, more so.

There's a difference between saying it and actually meaning it... I urr on the side that Fev says it alot.
