Standard rehab is 28 days... the fact he has kept himself in for 7 weeks is a huge sign he wants to kick his issues to the curb. Pity Brisbane can't see that and don't want to help someone who is going through that

At the point of posting this there is still no announcement other than 2 journos from the same syndicate saying he is sacked. The Age seem unaware as does Fox Sport whom you love to quote.

Dear members,

The Board of the Brisbane Lions this afternoon made the decision to terminate the contract of Brendan Fevola.

The decision to terminate Brendan's contract was reached by the Board of the Lions at a special meeting conducted this afternoon, having taken into account the views of the Club's administration and football departments, as well as the need to protect and uphold the culture and reputation of the Club.

The grounds for termination were that Brendan had engaged in serious or willful misconduct through persistent breaches of his obligations as a player to the Club.

The Club has therefore lost confidence in his ability to meet his obligations as a player due to these persistent breaches.

The timing of this decision was based on medical advice. Brendan was informed of the decision this evening.

While the club has no legal obligation to do so, it has advised Brendan that it will provide financial support to him, to enable him to continue to receive the necessary assistance with his financial situation and prepare him for his future life.

Lion's officials will be meeting with Brendan's management as soon as possible to finalise the support.

A formal media conference will be held tomorrow afternoon. A media alert will be issued tomorrow morning.

No... I got that from the research I did when the mother of my child was forced into rehab last June for a hidden alcohol abuse problem and I needed to polish up on the details involving rehab to ensure I made the correct decisions to ensure my 7 year old son was safe and the best decisions were made for his future welfare... yes I do have full custody now, and through everything she put us all through, I still support her through her rehab as best I can.

So can Fev play VFL or SANFL this year as I would assume that having waited till after the trade/draft period like dogs this has left him unemployed?

Also, considering Brisbane have to pay out his contract how does this affect their salary cap and does this give someone a free full forward if he nominates in the draft at the end of the year.
