Your club deserves criticism for hiring him in the first place.

Fevola deserves everything that is coming his way at the moment. At a genuine workplace he would have been booted ages ago.

Since he has been at the Lions what can you say he should have been booted for pray tell.?

One can see the stigma of addiction and mental illness laid bare. Support and understanding. Not dumping a player whilst undergoing inpatient care.

Persistent breaches? Really? Well let's hear them then Brisbane. List every breach he committed whilst a Brisbane player. If there's enough to terminate a $750,000 a year contract then there must be heaps. Off you go.

What's it to you? Why do you need to know?

You must know what these "persistent and serious breaches of contract" are then. Please, share.

I'm not privy to the contract, nor do any of us truly know what he's done aside from what is documented in the news.

No club would sack a player in this manner lightly.

Quit with the crocodile tears. People with real mental illnesses struggle every day, and I don't pretend to care about all of them. So why am I supposed to care about Fevola?

Gotta love the hypocritical Carlton fans who are saying that Brisbane are assholes for sacking Fev.....::thumbsu::rolleyes:
Gotta love the hypocritical Brisbane fans who said their club's superior 'culture' would stop this from happening. :o

Two can play that game.

12 months ago a majority of you were saying how great it was to get rid of the "Cancer" that is Brendan Fevola out of your Club ( your words not mine) and that he was a hack etc etc and yet 12 months later you have done 360 degree turn on your opinions about him saying how harshly treated he has been etc etc.
Yes I'm sure we called our reigning leading goal kicker a hack.

He has turned out to be however. He cost you Lachie Henderson, Kane Lucas, helped alienate Bradshaw and Rischitelli to the point where they would eventually leave the club, may well leave you $700,000 short in the salary cap over the next couple of years, which could see high-end talents such as Rich or Clark leave due to the mismanagement of the club.
What the hell was Brsibane meant to do after his latest drama? Pat him on the back and say "its alright mate we all make mistakes" and give yet ANOTHER chance?
Then again, perhaps I don't comprehend the full extent of this "drama".

From the accounts presented, I'm assuming this case that is yet to be heard will only deal Fev a slap on the wrist from the courts.

Why wasn't rehab an option when Brendan Fevola had his first alcohol fueled incident by Carlton? Or even after the second incident?
Completely irrelevant and underpinned by a generous dose of hindsight. There's nothing to say that he wasn't getting counselled however, considering clubs would like to keep that under wraps as best they could. Then again, perhaps his problems only spiralled out of control in the year of his sacking.

At Wet-and-Wild, Voss assured you, your members, and the club that Fevola wouldn't pose any problems, and more pertinently, that the support structures would be put into place to stop this from happening.

They weren't.

What's it to you? Why do you need to know?
Why wouldn't I want to know? They've made a statement, I think it's a lie, I want to know the real reason. Call it curiosity. Or just an interest in seeing how an organisation/administration that's meant to be so professional can be so mind boggingly incompetent.

Believe me Campbell does really care. Probably too much IMO. The needs of the few always seem to outweigh the needs of the many.

What's it to you? Why do you need to know?
Also, when you're sacking a guy mid contract while he's seeking help for a mental health issue and are refusing to pay out his contract, you'd want there to be a SERIOUSLY good reason.

If he's been sacked publically for consistant breaches of his contract you'd think those breaches would be obvious... They're not.

Can you name 2?

Not specifically, but I'm not launching a broadside on a football club with no knowledge of the facts, am I? Why would the breaches be obvious?

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd think that some breaches might be in relation to non-negotiable team rules such as being out to all hours whilst recovering from injury. That sort of thing. It's not like he tortured kittens or anything. However, from the club perspective, discipline is important and a line in the sand appears to have been drawn by the club. See Albert Proud.

He was out with Brisbane Lions players on New Years eve.

You seem to be reading a bit into the message from the club, but OK, assuming you're right, why do you ManWithNoName, feel you're important enough to be be supplied with the facts? That's my point.

FWIW, the facts (and I use the term very loosely) will no doubt be duly and truthfully reported by our honourable friends of the Fourth Estate.

Spot on.

Dual Diagnosis is a much stigmastised thing. Educating the public is hard, let alone when a popular sport treats an employee with a Dual Diagnosis like this.

Because nobody in the media seems to be competent enough to ask for them.

And by "honourable", I take it you're referring to the same people who publish medical records, stalk players to American rehab centres and take photographs of players in rehab during the off season? Amongst others.

I'm sure they're cut a bit of slack for NYE, but from memory there were reports of him being our clubbing till 4am when he shouldn't have been. Can't remember when that was though specifically.

Sorry, you obviously missed the sarcasm.

better hope a jb or a mitch clarke dont have a dual diagnosis roblem and require treatment.

cause get that big broom out,, watch your self players. you get sick you are outta here.

No I saw it, I just felt like pointing out the incompetence to any journos that are currently reading. Journos often read BF trying to find stories, as has been seen before.

You can't be serious?

Why do you feel your important enough to be told in the press that Fevola was sacked in the first place? Or any news on current affairs in our world... polution, war, politics... what makes you so special?

Come off it mate

Not for Fev though?

And there's the rub. You're itching to take a shot and want a bit of ammo.

Look, you'll probably get it, but will it be the truth?

Don't take my position as being pro what my club has done. Nor am I anti. It's not an easy siutation and I don't envy our board one bit.

I just get amused when people get so high and mighty about not knowing exact facts when it's none of their business. And the Main Board is full of them,

But he was sacked after this incident... that is yet to be heard in court!

Well, not that bit, but the actual being out and having a few drinks would be no dramas.

But yeah, thats obviously one breach, and a doozy at that.

It's not the reporting of him being sacked. Clubs make those announcements all the time and have a duty to report list changes to their members.

I'm just interested that people are getting antsy at not knowing the full story.

So he was found guilty of something was he? What was the "doozy"... you know the facts do you?:D

Fair enough.
