Kramer1 is pretty spot on, but we should be trying to get more. With Mclean at Carlton and maybe Riskatelli Hadley is of no use to us, we must be looking to add him to the trade and get back into round 1 of the draft.

How can adding Hadley to the deal possibly land us a first rounder :D:thumbsd:

The problem is we have detractors coming from all sides.

We have Fev backers who want to keep him regardless of what he has done and who might leave because of it.

We have Fev backers who threaten to jump off the club because we will have nobody to kick the goals.

We have those who recognise the need to trade but fail to recognise our trading position and think we can get fair value.

We have those who do not want to see Fev at Collingwood no matter what.

We have those who would rather take a chance on a draft speculator.

We have those who still think that teams want Fev and if we hold out until 1.45pm tomorrow, a great offer will come.

We have those who just want to offload his salary.

The club is on a hiding to nothing because they can not please everybody.

We have one solid offer ... from Brisbane .. Bradshaw and Rischitelli. We have to take that offer very seriously and have to do medicals on them first. So we fly them down to Melbourne, they indicate they would be prepared to play for us, but then we tell Brisbane that is Plan B and we are waiting for something better.

Now Brisbane can either wait or do more trading. Bradshaw and Rischitelli meanwhile have been offered for trade by their team AND are now considered to be Plan B by their possible new team. I wouldn't be surprised if Brisbane and the two players said 'stuff you then.' Now it is Friday, we have had no other offers. Collingwood come out with Dawes + Stanley for Fev. What do you do?

Great Post ODN. I think this sums it up in a nut shell:thumbsu::thumbsu:

We are going to cop a fair bit of shit next year about this trade and even though there is nothing that can be done about it, it better come out after trade week that he has done several quite bad things and that the rumours are not just infact rumours which im sure one or two of them arent or all this stuff with Fev is going to be even worse.:o

But they have Chapman and S.Jonson to compensate that.

Chapman and Johnson had career best years for a combined 77 goals in a diversified forward line.

Betts and Murphy had 67 taking the crumbs off Fev's plate. Start actually looking for them and think of the possibilities.

WE want to sell. It's not a matter of other clubs coming up with a king's ransom.
Yes
Our forward line still needs work, but I think Waite or Kreuzer or whoever should be able to co-exist in Carlton's forward line with Bradshaw as well IF NOT BETTER than with Fev.
Yes.
Rischitelli is a tough one to work out. He's not elite and not going to be - but he probably adds more snarl to our midfield. He and McLean are strong inside guys, things we certainly missed last year. Concern may be adding both of them slows us down somewhat. Hmmnnn. I think he's in our best 22 for the foreseeable future, but he's no superstar.
I didn't think he's all that slow and adds some more defensive mid pressure.

I think Bradshaw will give us plenty of joy for a couple of years, and I'd expect 16 games a year. Anything more to be a bonus.

I'd love to see him take Austin under his wing and raise him to be our next FF with Kreuzer at CHF. :thumbsu:

Unless we got a pick inside the top 8 (i.e. Sydney pick 6) then this is the better deal.

Pick 14 sounds great but this draft might not be anything to write home about.

I wonder if we'll look at Thorpe with a third rounder as a punt.

....

Except you missed out the option of an extended suspension - something we have NEVER done for Fev. Worked out pretty well for Johnson, Shaw and Didak. This is what we should have done rather than a firesale and gifting the Lions a flag or 2. That's what's so anoying about this. :)

I think it's the best deal we could get frankly, I doubt collingwood or sydney would have given up the picks and players we required to seal the deal with them

Regardless of what people think of the trade, oh the irony... gotta love the irony.

Bradshaw - the guy who pretty much landed the killer blow for us in the EF for the guy that got us there.

Rischitelli - hello Judd :D

I wonder if we'll look at Thorpe with a third rounder as a punt.

To be honest, I would have hoped we'd have inquired about Henderson from the Lions.

But I think acquiring Thorpe would probably tell us that the club is looking forward also, not just about the next year or two.

Wow were trying to impress Bradshaw and Rischitelli. Come off it. Why why why. That image of Fev in the Lions guernsey gave me the shits and after a moment of contemplating had me on a downer.

Agree with this option

100% agree CP. I think people are forgeting the fact that CARLTON DONT WANT HIM. So they can just sit back and wait till the death and offer up shite for him. We had to take this as it was the only offer we actually got.

Right.
And we are hoping plan A involves a first round pick.

TBH the only first rounder we are likely to see thrown forwards is Sydneys pick 14.

From what I understand the type of player we might land with that could be not disimilar to a second round tall from other years. Some strengths but some deficiencies as well........i.e. may not make it.

With Bradshaw we have a mentor as much as a FF. He knows how to share a forward line Fev doesn't (well, unless Jonno Brown is next to him). Bradshaw will help our young forwards develop, Fev hasn't and won't.

If a top 8 pick isn't forthcoming give me the Lions deal.

I'd rather pick 30. Some chance of being decent. Stanley is a spud and Dawes, well he has some talent but hasn't shown it........"potential" is the word.

Would rather take the Lions deal and sling a late pick to the Hawks for Thorpe on the off chance he becomes something with some senior game time.

The fate of Hartlett and Edwards may not be sealed either.

No, suspension may be used if Fev stays

The problem with suspension is that Fev's brownlow antics have offended (BIG TIME) some players, hence the problem with Fev staying at the club

Yes, you could say these players should be more professional etc, but at the end of the day Fev went waaaaaayyyyyyyyy too far and offended them and their loved ones, and that's a no go area. And at the end of the day it was Fev's lack of professionalism that got these players off side.

So putting Fev in the Bullants for a period may well not fix the problem.

It's more than just Fev that has to be considered in the "Fev Solution"

I agree with much of that. Not saying it'll fix the problem, but it'll at least give him an opportunity to get away from things for a bit, get some counseling, and reassess his priorities. Will give the team-mates he offended a breather as well. If after 6 months it's obvious things won't get resolved, then put him up for trade the next year. When you take football away from footballers, it often forces them to make changes. I'm not against a Fev trade if a good deal surfaced, one that focused on our needs i.e. high draft picks, and young KP forward talent. But if Clubs like the Lions are offering us peanuts, the better approach would be an extended suspension like the Pies and Cats did. They were in the same situation, and were going to trade those players if they didn't reform their ways. We should do the same IMO. :)

Word from ex-premiership player is Fevs time is UP - trade or no!!!!!!!

i'm worried bout Rischitelli. Wasn't that move Judd did on him supposed to slowly shut down all of his brain activity? We don't need another injury prone player!

We dont need Bradshaw OR Riskatelly (however you spell it).

Bradshaw plugs a hole (at best) for one - two years, and Riscatelli is surplus to our needs and is likely a depth player at best (considering our current midfield).

I dont care if we 'shut the window' for the next 2-3 years while we develop Key forwards.

But we need KPP. And we need them 2 years ago.

Hold out till Friday see if we can wrangle something that nets us Pick 14 and Everitt in some form of threeway deal with the Swans and Dos.

Draft 2 talls with 14 + 27.

Also:
  • Consider trading 27 for Thorpe from the Hawks.:eek:
  • Try and poach McKinley.
We need to get rid of him, but not for this deal. Its not Friday yet!

:DHa ha ha....i hope you are not serious about Thorp. You say Bradshaw plugs a hole a best but Thorp has never got on the park. the only thing he would be plugging is the door to the injury room. He has no form at all whereas at least Bradshaw has something to offer.....21 games in 2009 is not a filler. Thorp.......ha ha ha!

i think by accepting this deal, many people now see (self included) how bad things have gotten. Fev is to blame. He stuffed up, He left the club with no bargaining power and has left a big hole in all of us and our side.

I, like i have said all along will renew my membership and stand by the club no matter what.
Going to be VERY interesting to see how our 40k+ members welcome Fev and treat him next year when we meet at the dome. Will most ignore the mess he left? or will they boo him for the things he done to be traded. Personally im furious with Fev. :thumbsu:

would never boo a Carlton great. If he was giving me advice on morals etc, then maybe
